Something I slapped together to stop linking to the horrid "demo" I made over the summer. I'm still working on a better demo that'll be mixed by someone who actually knows how to mix well.

Yeah, Tegaki doodles. I began art'ing more when I hung out with a Tegaki RP community in the summer and I learned how different it was to draw with a tablet compared to pen and paper, so I've been practicing with Tegaki a lot... Thus the wonky coloring in the last thread. I ain't an art student, but I like drawing~

Now that I'm back in school, I doodle in class too. Here're my doodles from Television Production class. I really like octopi~ I like curvy lines, as you may've noticed, and octopi do curve a lot, especially when they move. I find it easier for me to draw animals than people, but I had trouble fitting in all the tentacles in the first few doodles... And decided to practice with a bunch of shapes for "framework". I fail to understand framework for faces. I always draw eyes first and it was tricky...

Bottom left corner is an alien using a shape tutorial Jeinu posted on dA.
Decided to play with names/words. I can't read "Scriblam" without imagining a "!"...

Played around with coloring and opacity with this one. Shading is weeeiiirrrddd. I broke light source and anatomy.

i really like that octopus you drew up there in your sketches, it's cute. think your anatomy is ok.
to get better, try drawing nude characters. it helps because clothing always distorts how anatomy looks.

Thanks! And methinks I shall be drawing more n3kk!d people 'cause what you said about clothing distorting anatomy makes sense and I do have some trouble drawing once I factor in clothes.

I went to LA's Chinatown yesterday with my family to celebrate the Lunar New Year (yeah, it was last week, but it was likely scheduled yesterday to prevent clashes with Valentines day). I like watching dragon/lion/whatever dancers 'cause the big ol' heads and faces are so expressive! I got to pet one on the head for good luck~

A lady feeds a dragon lucky money during the parade to be blessed. Cabbage, tangerines, and money (of course) are their favorite foods.

Going back to what I'm used to...


"1:02 am" - Drew a big eyed kid the same way I drew most of my other things... Then suddenly, random mantis.


"1:18 am" - Mantis, mantis, mantis; "Hey, why CAN I draw critters better than people? Am I drawing them in different ways?"


"1:23 am" - Humming bird (after seeing pictures and videos of mantis killing/eating hummingbirds...); "Framework?"; Thinner lines are easier to work with


"1:34 am" - Attempt at "people" again; A bunch of eyes and mouths(?)

I decided to play around in Photoshop for once. Pressure sensitivity and lineart is weird, but I think some practice will help later down the road.
