Guess I might as well show off the stuff I've been doing digitally, and maybe the shitton of stuff i did traditionally if i can figure out how to get it on the computer. I tend to export things as transparent PNGs so apologies for that

First off is a bunch of portraits i did of random friends on facebook, based off pictures i found on their profiles. Good practice in trying to pin down the individual contours and features that make each person's head different

Second is some posing tests i did a while back. I'm really proud of the one on the top left

An animation test I did yesterday night of a guy picking something up

Some more posing tests, which i later turned into a step-by-step pic. I don't really like the final result but the concept is pretty slick imo

a sketch i did of Warden from Superjail, which i quickly slapped color onto afterwards.

And finally, a speedpainting test i did of a waterfall. Reference is here

I do like the energy in the poses, especially the punched fellow there. I can really get a sense of the movement. Didn't know you were friends with Doctor Who.

Holy shit it's been a while since i've posted anything here

Okay here's what i've been up to since those shitty sketches

Starting in October 2012 i started doing a light bit of fanart, namely homestuck this time around

In December I made a cool little doodle for a friend for christmas since I was broke. It's his OC, some tall wolf girl named Kira

In January I started making an awesome jazz trio sketch which I actually finished! How about that. Here are some progression pics

at this point a couple friends on facebook let me know that the values are problems here (easy mistake to make since i never work with color), so i touched it up a bit

Couple months ago I got back into fanart. Here's some homestuck and some Gravity Falls. I didn't finish these either, i've got a bad habit of making a nice sketch and then moving onto the next thing

About a month ago I tried painting again. I'm still shit at it, but it's a lot of fun!

oh but wait, that pose is way too stiff and boring. Let's fix that

Most of my stuff is in my sketchbook or sketchpads or pieces of paper scattered around my desk that i'm too lazy to scan or upload anywhere so a lot of my stuff doesn't see the light of day, but I was very happy of this Daft Punk/Justice sketch I did a month ago! Maybe someday i'll clean it up...

I recently noticed the way your mouth curls around the upper lip area when smiling at a mirror, so I tried to emulate that and now i've got a new way of drawing expressions that look less flat and boring!

Earlier today I did a quick pinup sketch based off of this reference here.

Then I tried experimenting with the linework and ended up with this, which I really liked. Reminds me of Al Hirschfield

Did this earlier today too. Really big fan of those long sleeved shirts that show off the collarbone area

And that's what i've been up to in terms of art! There's a bit of animation stuff too but I dunno how to embed that here so if you want to see my shitty old temporary demo reel you can check that out here

i liked the sketch of the pin-up better. because it's more complete, and the crossed lines and contours on the breasts aren't quite there on the other one

Yeah me too. The second one was part of a series of experiments I did with line after reading a small tutorial on pure vs impure line. I did a lot of these types of drawings  in the space of an hour which really helped me see the flow in the figures, and i'll probably be bringing this over into my life drawing

soup

i do like the poses a lot
thats something i have always had problems with is making a drawing seem lively, im quite jealous
