Sonic adventure 2. i believe, probably incorrectly, this is where the sonic franchise started getting really damn bad

It's not incorrect. SA1 wasn't that great either.

I actually think Sonic Heroes was a much better game in a lot of ways, the gameplay was kind of fun at least and the switching between three characters was pretty cool, plus it was also sort of fast-paced in some areas if I remember correctly. That being said, it was lousy as far as actual story-telling goes and most of the characters were terrible. I think there was some frustrating level design as well, but it's been years since I played it so I can't say for sure anymore.

Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006 + everything after that was pretty shit, though supposedly the werewolf one was actually kind of decent.

SA1, for its time, was actually an incredible game and the best DC launch title. SA2 was solid, but was just an improved SA1 with some new uninspired characters

everything after that was pretty boring or just plain bad until sonic colors, nix the DS titles which were pretty good sidescrollers.

as for the worst, probably one of the final fantasy games i tried to play for the PS2. never was a fan of those games.

i used to love both sonic adventure games but they're barely fuckin tolerable anymore.  in addition to that, fuck heroes and nearly everything afterward, tho i should probably still give sonic 4 and colors a try.
