I needed to properly fight my art block.

I turned on America's Best Dance Crew, paused at random intervals, and sketched gestures as quickly as I could.

Working up to 100 gesture sketches since my attempts at drawing from my head and such have been frustrating me with the stiff-ness/wonky proportions/bad drawing habits. 'Figured I'd practice a bunch until the flowy-ness actually stuck.





I clearly like referencing/watching this one particular Cirque du Soleil performer.

Decided to challenge myself a little... Or tad, with a (spinning) cylinder, which blocks the view of her waist, and no "flowy clothes" or insane actions to directly imply movement.

@@; It was a tad challenging with lots and lots of stuff I just didn't know how to draw, like foreshortening, bodies twisting in ways that made it hard for me to determine where the limbs were, etc. So... These are basically thumbnails.

Clearly a WIP, because I'm catching a couple weird spots (namely her left side as a whole and the weird skewing/rotation) and may do 1-2 more passes before PRETTY!lines...



And I also voice Ven, the assassin, in Heroes of Newerth. She appears around the 3:04 mark.

it's definitely better. i think you could do more with her curves since she has a very dynamic figure. while the nose is also a big improvement over what you used to do, i think it's too simplified as it looks a bit like a backwards L shape. make sure you get the ridge of the nose , and other contours of the face.
