two serous questions

I just personally wanna know from you guys something. How would you concider my drawings? Like style-wise. is it original? or is it be like some generic anime inspired ghetto blah?

And my second question. I wanna lose the anime-ish of my drawings and yet go towards more realism and something more me & unique. how would I go about that?

Edit: it make that three questions. I have a habit of drawing small it feels weird drawing med & big picture on pencil. is that bad?

1. nothing in the world is original. there are only degrees of how much inspiration you can take from this and that to make something look like it's new. i could probably pick your art out of a bunch of tiny previews so to me it stands out in that sense

2. if you want more realism in your style study human faces. there's plenty of reference online for that. don't forget to study the anatomy of the face as well. really the only thing that seperats anime from realism are the heads (for the most part, especially in animation)

3. not really, but you should make yourself more comfortable with larger mediums to make yourself more versatile

Yeah im actually looking around right now with my sketchbook (thats a first) and just doodling. Ill check out the anatomy of the face aswell  but what do you mean the heads that mainly seperates the 2? don't you have to do the egg-shape in both? or do u mean the faces? that makes sence.

for me personally, even though i was never an anime artist, my drawings got more realistic when i started using a grid to copy references.

basically for starters, find a jpeg of someone's face like rtil said. try making a grid with the line tool and/or square tool in flash. paste the jpeg in flash on a layer below the grid and line up the grid over top of the jpeg. then copy the grid and press ctrl-shift-v to paste in place. hold shift, click the grid, and move it off to the side. now you should have one grid lined up over the jpeg and another with a white background. you copy it by drawing exactly what you see in each individual square of the grid. so like if his eye is in the box at the top left corner of the jpeg grid, you copy his eye in the box at the top left corner of the blank grid. then repeat for each box. and the great thing about flash is if you're copying colors, the eye dropper is the perfect tool for it.

try that a few times with different stuff like faces, bodies, etc. its a good to do with a pencil and paper too, you just have to draw the grid onto a reference from a magazine or something. once you start to get the hang of it, you won't need to grid anymore, and hopefully you won't need a reference image at all after awhile once it becomes second nature. copying beats the shit out of tracing because it actually helps you noticeably improve

but judging on your previous avatar (not your current yungjazz one) and that one short flash animation you posted with your avatar guy spraypainting a wall, it really looked like you were trying really hard to mimic rtil. and doing a very poor job of it.

try doodling.
doodle without any preconceived notions or ideas as to what you want to draw. draw whatever pops into your head. let it be a train of thought.
see what comes out.
if it all looks like stuff you've drawn before, then you are indeed, stuck in a rut. and perhaps a butt.

Lol Zeeky thats really old. I did that animation just to test my tablet when I first got it. And my other avatar with the face view wasnt done by me.

1) very anime inspired. I originally thought your drawings were just ghetto-anime type of thing. I still kinda do

2) just draw out. no rules. I kinda did this and eventually drew away from anime ( even though I still have a tinge of it aaaaaaa )

3) uhh, well not necessarily but you might wanna get pver that so you have less limits on drawing
