bcube

it affected mine
spin saw some of my old stuff
oh god it was horrible
I wish I started by invader zim so as to more of a cartoon style

this is thebackalleys

sQueef

I did anime but not big ol' chibi eyes, more like akira style anime, and some invader zim fan art.

And Grinace you are like my age don't worry about how impressive your art is right now just draw for your personal love of it not to impress a bunch of people who frankly are very hard to impress not that that's a bad thing.
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

Sinitron

my old shit just sucked ha ha

MRat

I don't even think about or categorize my drawings. Maybe I drew anime before, but if I did it was subconscious.
I just draw and then there is a drawing.
I was gone, FOR SO LONG

GRINACE

Sqeef ur a year older than me. But I like the way you think Mrat.

Hammi

I dont fuckin remember why i started drawing anime. Maybe i used to watch too much digimon or something. Fuck.
<GreatRapperLenkazuka> lmao
<GreatRapperLenkazuka> hammi you are my top paki
<GreatPakiHammizuka> top at dem all maynn

GRINACE

I blame Dbz. My cousin actually got me into drawing and he drew dbz and i love the show as much ashe did. He a big insperation to me.

sQueef

I used to plan out my drawings like, okay now I need to add a little dude in this tree fort and okay now there is a bazooka here alright theres gonna be some ninjas over here. I used to draw a lot of stuff like that, little war battle scenes with stick figure type people.

And I drew detailed histories for my characters, like this ninja that lives forever because he found a fountain of youth, so its like the year 4,000 and hes been a ninja since about the year 1,000 so hes all super badass at killing fuckers and shit.

And there was this whole clan of dbz type people who flew around and fought for no clear reason other than they liked to fight, yep.

Now I just draw ass and ass is made

I also drew a shit ton of DBZ fan art and as it stands now you might hardly notice I ever watched DBZ from my shit so um

Quote from: rtilalso i'd stay away from the grid thing personally. art shouldn't be an attempt to mimic reality, it should be your statement of how you see reality
i found it was good to work from as a starting point, then i moved on from it and let my own perspective dictate the way i stylized things

the first anime thing i ever drew was this:

Quote from: KingDavidWPS you are really immature, RTIL is a nice normal guy and i'm not kissing his ass either - he's earned his title, and that's my opinion. Why the fuck would you join RTIL's forum if you had a problem with him and his society? I thought you left besides, yes you have talent but that doesn't give you the right to be an arrogant prick - i don't even care if you're joking.

when i was seven or eight i started making comics about all of the different characters i had. also, i'd make movie posters for looney toon episodes. i was pretty much on the right track until dbz introduced anime to me and fucked everything up.

I have folders full of old anime drawings. Then I quit because I didn't know how to change.

speaking generally as someone who doesnt draw very often and considers themselves a shitty artist, i'd have to say that having anime inspired artwork can be a good thing and can be a bad thing. it really depends on the artist, and their level of skill. my primary medium being music, i'd have to say the only thing i could compare this to is integrating popular music and its structures into your songs. in my opinion, to some degree pop music is ok to combine with whatever genre you hope to compose or write. and if you're going to create solely pop music, then so be it. as long as you're proficient at it. that being said, i think the same about anime. its a valid art style, although a simple and overused one. just like pop. but practice it adeptly and there's nothing really wrong with it, except the unconditional hatred that many people have for it.

rtil

i'd have to agree with armon here. a lot of people will say "anime sucks" in general, i dont' really think you can generalize an entire genre of art like that. clearly there are thousands of talented anime artists in the world. for every good one there's probably two dozen bad ones, but that doesn't mean it all sucks

f0d

don't get me wrong some anime is good, especially the hyper detailed and realistic stuff and that incredibly fancy FBF in miyazaki movies. but when anime tries to delve into comedy (i.e. that horrible ^_^ shit) or pornography is when it really goes downhill and just gives me an intense hatred for the style itself

ZekeySpaceyLizard

you cant blame all anime for some of its shit

thats like japan blaming all u.s. animation for steaming piles like 'butt ugly martians' or 'totally spies'
