the lyrics were too quiet , and sometimes they were off in terms of pitch and key. try to stay away from those random recordings of children and stuff like that in the beginnings or endings of your song ( like in Sparky Plays the Blues. ) its over used and it may sometimes seem charming and rememberable but it really adds nothing to your music.

when you respond to criticism, try to see the listeners side instead of your own - you're very quick to defend your work.

1. i don't think they were too quiet, and anyway the "lyrics" aren't quiet, the vocals are. that's sort of a petty thing to point out, but just so you know the lyrics are the actual words being sung and the vocals is the voice that sing the words.

2. they weren't off key, as i've said. i dont know any parts where they are off pitch except for the very first note on "day". and that's pretty slight.

3. the recording of the kids is funny to me and everyone else in the band so we put it in. they're saying "it's a bread club", it's from a weird ass/confusing video on youtube where the audio clips like shit and a bunch of kids are sitting around a table talking about being in a bread club. it was a really weird find so we put it in. other samples were relevant as well, like the recording at the end of "untitled". we didn't put a lot of thought into these samples, we thought they were funny or striking so we put them in, they sounded good, we left them there. i don't really care if you think that it's overdone, because it's not like my goal was to make an album of complete, 100% originality. everything has been done before. and you're wrong saying that it adds nothing to the album, i think it adds a certain lighthearted atmosphere to it all.

4. when i respond to criticism, especially on this site, i try not to be too defensive. what usually happens is i'm trying to make sense of people who don't know anything about music that are trying to critique music. that's ok, nothing wrong with people not knowing anything about music, and i'm not a music expert or anything. but when someone's critique is "the vocals sound off", that's so vague that i usually have to ask more in depth questions to understand what they actually mean. and with the off key thing, that's just something i dont hear. i definitely dont think bread club is the best thing since sliced bread (SHWING) or anything, and i don't think i'm a great singer. i really do want to hear your criticisms and understand them. if i don't agree with them, i'll say so, but i still want to know what they are because i like knowing how different crowds react to my music.
