he's generalizing but i do agree that a lot of gamers have a sense of entitlement - and when you're a developer, dealing with whiny, impatient fans can be a huge test on your patience. but for the most part, if you treat your fans with respect, they will return the favor. but phil fish is just like the super meat boy guy - he's completely full of himself and thinks everything he touches turns to gold, so when someone criticizes it they lose their shit and their egos explode. it's impossible for them to acknowledge the fact that they are human beings who are capable of making mistakes.

He didn't though. For every bad thing said about him that he reacted to, he must've read thousands of other bad things about himself that he didn't react to. It's not that easy.
Let's take rtil for example. I know for a fact that he has a pretty thick skin and can brush off mean comments on his work that come in from time to time. But if he'd get a thousand comments on his work, insulting his work, insulting rtil, insulting his family and even threatening him and his family, he'd lash back at some point. We all would.

I don't like Phil Fish's opinions or the way he acts in some situations, but I certainly understand him.

the only reason phil fish ever got people to treat him like that is because of his poor attitude and unprofessional comments.

when you reach a certain level of notoriety, people start to look up to you and things you say matter because people are listening. you are expected to act in a certain manner. if you don't, you receive backlash. is it fair? no, not really. but fame is clearly not for everyone. some crumble under the pressure and prove they don't deserve to be in the public spotlight. phil fish is one of those people.

he doesn't deserve any sympathy - he doesn't have an ounce of humility or compassion in him, and his self-serving nature ended up costing him his respect and his career. i took great pleasure in seeing the cancellation announcement. good riddance i say.
