yeah man, if "top 50" implies that you're drawing from an even larger pool of hip hop releases, that's uh some pretty dedicated listening haha

lmao what? i just downloaded 60+ albums a week ago

trent bortknob

although i definitely didn't download 50 albums of the same genre, so that's pretty surprising i guess

you're saying it like downloading 60 albums in a week is something most people do on a regular basis

lenko

here's my top 5:

gang gang dance - eye contact
tom waits - bad as me
boris - new album
nujabes - spiritual state
astronautalis - this is our science

this year hasn't been amazing for music but a fair amount of cool stuff was released. also coldplay are pretty awful now, they're this generation's U2. i liked their first two albums though

taylor i agree with you on muse, matt bellamy is completely up his own ass and their music to me has always been bombastic, to the point that it starts to become funny
<emanhattan> i remember pingu ice cream
<emanhattan> it was a better time
<emanhattan> when the penguins were cold and delicious
<emanhattan> and i knew i was gonna be
<emanhattan> consequence free

no, it's definitely not normal, not even for me. it was a big load after i decided to start writing down all of the suggestions i get and all of the bands i'm curious about. i just had this huge list and finall decided to tackle it, and i know i'm going to get more.

it's just surprising to me because i always thought you listened to a ton of music all of the time. i don't really know where i got that idea from.

rtil

according to mediamonkey i have added 613 songs/2.5gb/25 hours of music to my library this year out of a total of 5061 files/23.3gb/299 hrs. i really don't collect a lot of music, i also often delete music i dont listen to anymore and there's really not a lot of music i listen to that i like enough to keep around

trent bortknob

i feel bad deleting music, and every time i delete something i want to listen to it a week later

naturally

nujabes - spiritual state

i haven't downloaded anything from this year except for this

Kooh

You pretty much gave me new bands to listen to, so thanks guys, I do get tired of hearing the same things.

it doesn't matter which coast it's about, the point is that the band makes boring songs about love and that's all that they do

and the only reason they're creating such a stir is because pitchfork likes them, and the only reason pitchfork likes them is because they sound like chill wave

yeah, but the beatles don't deserve half of the amount of praise they get.

here's my list that'll make y'all go "wWOW this guy reads 2 much pitchfork!!! ha ha!! hipster!!!!!"

1. father son holy ghost - girls
2. w h o k i l l - tune-yards
3. tomboy - panda bear
4. parallax - atlas sound
5. i dont know either the james blake or unknown mortal orchestra debut

rtil

i haven't heard of any of those bands

Abnormal

i think you might like girls, panda bear, and unknown mortal orchestra. they're all worth checking out

rtil

oh wait. i've heard girls now that i think about it. they suck

Abnormal

oh ok thanks for the input

Abnormal

this probably won't change your mind at all, but it's my favorite song off the new album. it's a lot different than the songs off the first album if that's what you're referencing
