If you're into marvel, consider the following:

The Ultimate Spider-Man- it was a very clever and smart revamp that didn't stray to much from the original comic. Series by Bill Jemas and Brian Michael Bendis with art by Mark Baglety and Art Thibert.

NYX: A group of fucked up mutants who are hiding from the government try and survive while fucking up everyone. Terrific writing and art. Series written by Joe Quesada (Wannabe) and  Marjorie M. Liu (No Way Home) with art by a bunch of people.

X-Factor: Post-Scarlet Witch going batshit insane and taking away a shit load of mutants abilities. Band of mutants and depowered mutants run around together and solve crimes. Very clever writing by Peter David and has very great art by Ryan sook, Wade Von Grawbadger, Dennis Calero, and Jose Villarrubia.

Tag is about a guy who falls victim of a disease that eats his body away. This plague happens when someone with the disease touches, or "tags", you, and the only way to get rid of it is to tag someone else with it. It's like your typical zombie comic, only more disgusting.

Correct, and does this not make it good art?

My point is that they are largely ignored for good reason, i.e. they are made by fans for fans. Comics like Maus appeal to a larger audience and contain far more relatable themes than superheroics, action and fantasy, so groups like Pulitzer duly take notice.
