I've still enjoyed what ive been able to play of it so far but Serious Sam and Painkiller are much better examples of old school shooter style games done right.

Also i think in terms of vaporware games actually ending up being made some are actually worth the wait (STALKER took nearly 10 years to come out and it was definately worth waiting) and duke i hate to say wasn't worth the weight but it could've been worse.

i just want to remind everyone that dnf was announced in 1997 - that was 14 years ago, and it bankrupted 3d realms. the only reason it was released is because it was picked up by gearbox. and judging from what i've seen and heard, the game wasn't really polished and more rushed out the door when they felt it was complete enough to make money from acquiring it

just don't play the console versions and wait for them to patch the steam overlay/crashing issues and it's fine

played the demo not too long ago, I'll say that it was fun, but not outstanding. duke's remarks during the action made me snort on occasion, but i have a hard time believing this game took 12 years to make, looks like this could have been whipped up in less than a year, if 3d realms wasnt a bunch of lazy fucks to begin with
