My main computer (XP, compaq) isn't starting up at all. Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, none of them work, it just restarts. Even attempting to do the system recovery factory restore thingy via the D drive is giving me that fuckin fatal error message, and I don't have a restore CD. Yet.

I backed up my shit like a week ago so I don't care about losing it, but does this mean I'm gonna have to take it for a shop or is there a concrete way to restore my comp. to factory settings without getting any faggot errors?

Ive had a similar problem before with another laptop. Right before it crashes and restarts, you get the glimpse of BSOD for only a millisecond. Then i wait for it to start up again and i choose use last known good config. And when it reaches to the loading screen with the logo appearing, it restarts after "completing" the loading. Then it goes on with the same thing over and over again.

Problem solved yet? Nope sorry :\

Hammi I had the exact same problem!
I ended up doing a complete computer restart (factory settings?), so my computer thought I'd just bought it.

But even that option isn't working. i think i'm just gonna have to send off for a recovery disc unless there's a way to make your own

the reason why this happens is because microsoft decided it would be a great default setting to just automatically restart a machine instead of show the debugging info when there is a fatal error. to change this, right click on my computer and select properties. go to the advanced tab, click on settings for startup and recovery. uncheck "automatically restart" under system failure. the bsod will stay on screen until you hit ctrl+alt+del. this will give you a chance to write down the error information so you can look it up later.

one drop of water hit the mouse buttons on my laptop Thursday night, and then it made a squeaky noise and immediately shut off.  It turns out the battery is directly under the space where the tabs lie.  So I pull all the components out and left it upside down over-night
and then it worked the next morning.
