um

so i've been listening to sibelus a lot recently

if you enjoy the romantic classicism then well this is the best guy to go to, very moving music. but if you don't like romanticism then it's going to sound cheesy. um this is a very bad description.

and then also into some minimalistic music with steve reich. a lot of people don't have the ears for this sort of music-- but there's something in its simplicity that i find charm in. and then there is also the impossibility of the music that's made, with only slight variations of melody being made every so often, it seems extremely hard for the musician to do!

i dig steve reich's ability to take simple little snippets of melody which would be insignificant in other sorts of music, and make them stand out so well, using harmony, repetition etc. (plus they're really catchy)
i got around to listening to him because of 80's king crimson lmao
