NG Medals

I just now noticed this, but I sorta found a skill point system for Newgrounds flash games. It was on Portal Defender, and Im speculating that later (much) flash developers will be able to incoperate medals into games (providing they know what they're doing). Just throwing that out there...

if you clear your flash storage the achievements stay on the site but not in the game oopsey poopsey

also who cares if it's been done before? It doesn't mean NG can't do it as well. It's like say the tba forum is gay cause other websites have forums.

they do it because it gets people to come back and play the games more so they can generate more ad revenue

^exactly. But in my opinion it's not even a bad thing to do. It gives you something to do when you finish a game you liked.

for me if kind of takes the fun out of it, it's like saying what you should try to do in a game and shouldn't do, and people are going to only want to do what they can get achievements for rather than just playing the entire game, now in this case. they pretty much cover everything with 21 medals.

it's not like the game will close or stop working if you don't do what the medals require you to do

well no of course not, but I think more people tend to go do what the achievements are (obviously), it would be better if people didn't have the achievements in front of them and just explored the game on their own

exploring the game on your own and finding things out for yourself just seems like a more fun experience then going down a virtual to do list

Ditto. Achievements has its pros and cons. While it has gotten me to play games above "easy", its made some people into achievement whores (doing everything in their power to obtain achievements, and buying shitty movie based games for the purpose of getting achievements.

The whole concept of achievements has existed long before the Xbox 360. Anyone ever heard of skill points? Or purhaps that room in an adventure game where trophies and medals are put in when you complete certian objectives?
