i ran four and a half miles in the cold to the theater to see this and i can say that it was well worth it. virtually no one was there except this little kid in the back row who began hyperventilating and freaking out at the scariest parts, but that added to the experience.

zomfgbie

i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien
<+wwchicken> but hes scared of the dark

Cornmander

Holy shit, I just peed myself a little from laughing so hard.

LordZeebmork

fucking great movie, especially the animation

I liked the part where the garden disappeared, it sort of reminded me of tron for some reason

and the web thing

the only real problem that I had was that, especially near the beginning, they didn't interpolate some of the frames or whatever so the animation was sort of choppy although most people probably wouldn't notice it so uhh
let's all set our phasers on "boring"

Finally saw it.

Apparantly the Stop-Motion students at my school aren't too fond of it, but I haven't the slightest clue as to why. I don't know how half of the shit that went on in this movie could've possibly been done in stop-motion, so visually it was incredibly impressive. Story was pretty decent, a little repetetive in the beginning, turned into a video game for like 15 minutes near the end, but overall was nicely balanced by the characters. Wasn't bothered by any of them, not even the parents. The cat and the Amazing Bobinski were the ones that stuck out to me.

My one grip was that the voice directing was a little off at points. I caught more than a few times where the lines sounded like they weren't conversational english. One offhand I can remember was Coraline telling Wybie "YOU'RE just like them". It came up the most with Coraline's dialogue, but otherwise it wasn't really a big deal. The cast was pretty well selected and turned out nicely, fuck yeah Keith David.

what

Kirbopher

Did you get to see the second half of the movie sans the raving idiots yet?

rtil

not yet but i don't see how the end of the movie was like a video game

also your stop motion friends are probably just jealous because the film was simply brilliant

Kirbopher

I didn't say the end of the movie. The section where she was retrieving the eyes of the three ghost kids seemed ridiculously Zelda-like.

And they ain't no friends of mine, someone told me that when we walked out of the theatre and we were all confused.
