sorry to bump this old thread dogs but i got somethin to add

i just saw donnie darko and i really really liked it

when i was first watching it it was confusing and the end left me more confused but the more i thought about it the more i understood it and other concepts that the movie explored

also the line "why do you wear that stupid rabbit suit? why do YOU wear that stupid man suit?" made me laugh and think at the same time yeah it was gret

also i can actually think of a film that changed my life: the thief and the cobbler

it made me give up animation

Taylor, i thought the same thing when I saw Donnie Darko, type of movie that has to sink in over time then when you get it, it's incredible.

donnie darko is a poorly tied together piece of garbage the director himself said that he didn't have any true direction or statement he was trying to make with it and that he didn't understand the following it had or any of the things that people told him they thought it was supposed to mean

a movie that really changed the way I want my life to be like was "american splendor"
it was like almsot two hours of those odd moments in "the office" where they have some great insight into how pathetic a reserved lifestyle can be

also, 2001
I know this might be really clichée and it didn't really change my life but the "jupiter and beyond the stars" sequence really struck with me and kinda made me think of artistic value and presentation in a different way. same thing with the first few seconds of a clockwork orange (just showing the color red to give a sense of danger)

well while i agree that the film wasnt crafted that well and is pretty confusing the real value is some of the ideas suggested within it

though there is hardly any message the whole idea of dreams being gateways into alternate universes where you make decisions that can change the future is really cool to think about, especially if you remember any of your dreams and can imagine them as a movie themselves

it doesnt really make that much sense and that isnt really waht the movie is about, its just a lightly mentioned idea at the end of the movie and it stuck with me

yes it is amazing
a bit slow because of when it was made but still amazing
the best in the man with no name trilogy
it hasnt exactly changed my life but its definitely changed what i want to draw
i want to animate a little short western now
too bad im too lazy
