Are there any films that have affected the way you see things in life? OR anything like that?

Maybe not, But even so if there is tell us all about it.
I know Donnie Darko made me think about things more.

there used to be an entertainment subforum, but i don't think we have enough entertainment topics to merit one. the more sub-forums we have, the more scattered everything is. i always wanted to avoid having 5 billion different subforums, so i'm really picky about adding new ones.

anyway, probably more than any movie spirited away did that for me. i think that solidified my decision to be an animator

saving private ryan made me first consider joining the army
i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien

Some of you might think I'm a fag for this but I'll say it anyways. The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's some weird anime that got me to think a lot. About how uninteresting pretty much everything is. Ever since I watched it, I don't feel like doing anything anymore because it has probably already been done by someone else or it is, right now, getting done by someone else. Doing something unique is great though, that's why I like animating.

The only thing that I really love is to observe people's reactions. There are probably a lot of people who like doing that but I don't care, it's a nice thing to do. Just like this weird spriter payne something, I love his reactions. I loved Anigen's reactions, too back when me and rtil were fucking with him. Now Anigen has changed for the good, most probably because of what we did. The human brain and way of thinking is so neat.

I cant really think of any at the moment. Though there are films have have changed the way i looked at things. A documentary being 'Earthlings', though it didnt make me a PETA-fag or vegen/vegetarian or anything like that. I find music changes my perception more than anything, thats why i need to stop listening to UNKLE.

I was once a Narutard because, obviously, I watched Naruto. And it fucked up with my brain and stuff so I was all: Hey guys xD Check this ^_^ it's cute! It was my friends who made me start watching it. Because it's was that thing you do in lower grades: YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS AND FOLLOW THIS TO BE COOL LIKE US!!! And they drew anime and thought they were so fucking cool. I sucked ass at drawing back then and they were better than me. And they kept saying: Conny, you don't know how to draw Naruto characters. And they were tracing the artwork as I tried to actually draw it. And well, they got it in their faces when I finally became better than they were. And their comment to that was: Meh, drawing is gay anyway.

Thinking back at that now.. ugh.. The funny thing is, I didn't realize why people thought I was a faggot. But now I do when I stepped out from anime and all that. I still watch anime time to time, but not as much and not as.. I don't know, not as much into the whole thing.

Honestly. I think by watching anime you become very, very immature. And I was immature by watching it because I acted after it and it was the only thing I was talking about and drew. I didn't know what originality was, lol.

I guess that makes sense about the sub-forums.

I've seen the anime, I know what you mean.

Something that made me think about the future was a 15 minute film called 'A minute after midnight' or something. It's set in the future 2059 maybe...And it's about 2 convenience store night shift workers just discussing life while one has a romance with a day shift worker.
It made me think about how dull life could actually be in the future.

the movies that had the greatest effect on me?

probably "taxi driver" and "waking life"

i think taxi driver is the single greatest movie ever made. you simply cant make a film much better than that. thats what got me really heavily into film.

waking life is great but not so much for the rotoscoped animation, even though that aspect of it is really cool. but if you get into the philosophical aspects of that movie its amazing to think about.

i dont know if any other films changed my life really but i have had movies where i was just astonished at how incredibly good they were. "silence of the lambs" is the best acting ive ever seen in a movie, and probably the best plot twist as well (when hannibal esacapes). "city of god" is one the most realistic and innovative movies of the past decade. best cinematography ive ever seen, hands down.

funny because i was gonna say a scanner darkly just because i like the movie and the director of that a scanner darkly made walking life

that being said, the hour and a half that i watched walking life was probably the most boring hour i have ever experienced. i wouldn't say that i hated the movie but i would NEVER watch it again

yeah i dunno its not much of a MOVIE, theres no story or anything. but the philosophical shit is really thought provoking, thats pretty much the way i see the world

scanner darkly was good, especially the animation. still not a big fan of the rotoscoping, but its a major improvement from waking life. i wouldnt say it was life changing or anything though, it was just a good movie
