i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien

anything below 12 is too chunky, and you should be working in increments of 4 for proper timing. typically animators will work in 12, 16, 20 or 24 fps, and some games use 30, although i dislike that framerate because it's on 3's.

Ill prove you wrong right here

Neither of these are mine, just proving a point

no need to prove anything to me. i said anything below 12fps is too slow.
most of my cartoons are animated on 2's @ 24fps, which would translate to 12fps. sometimes even animation on 4's (6fps) for short spans of time can look better than 2's or 1's. depends on the situation, usually scale

Damn Technicalities, and your probably one of the only animators i know, that actually knows what they are talking about.

..agreed. i usually animate on 20fps and just fill in every frame, whats all this 2's, 3's stuff?

our minds can process 24 frames per second. this can be effectively broken down into halves. when you animate, the keys are usually on 8's, 12's and 24's. then as you get the timing right you can continue to draw inbetweens until you've got it on 4's, 2's and 1's. the reason why animating on 3's is bad is because there is no middle frame in between say, frames 1 and 4. frame 2 and 3 are not true inbetweens. this can be bad for your timing. also, animating off of an increment of 24 is just unnatural, most people don't know it but our natural instinct for timing would be on the 24fps time scale

trent bortknob

1's are drawing new poses for the character in every frame of the movement, 2's are drawing a new pose every 2 frames

so in flash to do 1's you would simply draw something and insert a new keyframe and draw something else, but to do 2's you'd draw something and insert a new keyframe 2 frames after the first key frame

ZekeySpaceyLizard

i gotta stop doin shit one 1's
it's what i've always done in those times where i actually fbf something and it takes FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

agh agreed, whoa i actually learned something about animation. dont animate straight ahead in 1's at 24fps, you stupid ass.

most animation looks better on 2's anyway

Sinitron

adamant

1s only look smooth if you do like 45000 inbetweens

Clutch

Thanks for comments guys, im learning shit right now.

To everyone cool (rtil, Freekc,etc..)- You guys would love ShiftLimits and should join.

rtil

not sure what i'd be doing at a stick forum, but thanks for the invite anyway

Its not mainly a stick forum, we have great fullbody animators too.

On-Topic- Im working on my first medium length flash now.

good luck. i may have sounded a little forward but you have good timing thus good potential. everyone has their strengths/weaknesses, human characters are an ass for me, i really need to work on anatomy

lmao thus
