acrylic on canvas with massive amounts of slowdrying medium doesnt look right still so ill need to do more to it

now here's a skill that i really envy - traditional painting. i have absolutely no patience for the medium, especially acrylic. it's like painting with melted plastic. i dunno how people do it. so messy and expensive, no undo button... i need to check my privilege. it looks great , almost like oil here

soup

yeh i use super cheap acrylics coz of course i gotta pay for them hehe

i found it really difficult to work with unless i used glossy or slowdrying medium. kinda turned the acrylics into budget oils that didnt take 6 months to dry.

but yeh i figured if i can get the hang of colors and tones irl, ill get a ton better at digital painting. not that i prefer one over the other, they both have pros and cons

the one thing i've been wondering about is, is soup liquidy like a traditional soup, or does he have chunks of meat and potatoes, more like stews?

soup

at the moment liquidy and of little substance, like an exceptionally watered down soup

i hope one day tho to mature into a delicious full flavored broth.

Not only do I greatly envy your technical versatility, the rate at which you produce this work is also rather wonderful in my opinion. Keep it up.

This is really nice! I like the way you used subtle blends of yellows and oranges in the white parts to give the suit a gritty look (also adds nice values). You can tell that its all applied very thinly though...probably because not enough paint was used on the surface so you see the grain of the canvas through the work. But it doesn't look bad, I actually kind of like the texture that its making for this piece, since the subject matter is kind of old and crusty in nature so it helps accent the aging of the suit haha. Very nice work! hope to see more :)

soup

wowwow thank you for the responses you are all the coolest of people
i probably wont post anymore traditional stuff till i get a better camera tho

so here are some digital things

the tank needs more work and i dont know what kind of tones to use for buildings faded in the distance

and i still want to make a big cool comic when i get a bit better, so ill probably just draw out of context scenes and characters for a while
