i feel like i should really really watch this
but every time i sit down to do just that i get distracted

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

make dinner or something and watch it while you eat ;)

heres a link to a wikipedia article with more information about the cannibal tribe mentioned in episode 15

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawney_Bean

the video I watched got the spelling wrong in the subtitles and because of that i was unsure if it was very clear that reference was being made to an actual legend that originated in scotland

on a further note, I never thought I would see a sawney bean reference in anything let alone some anime and seeing it just bumped this show into my top 5

Not sure what the deal is but it looks like AoT is getting a prequel spinoff? First chapter is out, don't know if it'll be adpated by/into the anime either.

I was honestly expecting it to just cut straight from the title card to raw footage of cookie clicker.

i dont know what to say other than i saw that many times on tumblr
or i could have stated the obvious and said the blurred bread looked remarkably like a dick.
Just watched Episode 24. Nearly half the episode was extra scenes they added in that weren't in the manga, but they were hype as hell. I guess that makes sense, being the 2nd to last episode, that they would go nuts on the animation budget.

Now I'm just wondering if they'll change anything for the last episode, because if they follow the manga exactly it'll be one titan-sized cliff-hanger. It's shame that those of you who haven't been reading the manga won't get to see the crazy shit that happens afterwards until they do another season. Everyone has their own theory as to what's going on and I'd have liked to discuss them with y'all.

rtil

well if you have manga spoilers just warn and put in a spoiler tag. as someone who hasn't read the manga nearly every episode is a cliffhanger, and from the sounds of it the manga usually is anyway, too.

the only thing that has felt like filler to me so far is how long they stretched out defense of trost. i felt like that arc could have been much shorter, while giving more time to the training arc which felt extremely abridged. otherwise the pacing has felt good to me, except for the 3-minute long recaps they like to do sometimes.

i'm used to the cliffhangers so i won't be surprised by it next week. but then i'll have to wait probably 2-3 seasons until i see more of the main storyline. oh well!

dilly

i too wish they had spent more time on the training arc in order for the audience to get to know some of the minor characters more.

Actually, it looks like the anime will be covering up until Chapter 33 of the manga. For perspective, we just recently got chapter 49. They don't have enough material to do another 25 episodes, so I get the feeling we won't be seeing another season very soon unless they decide to cram it with filler, give the plot to the production crew early, or cut it to a half-season.

Does anyone else read the manga? The post-anime spoilers are kind of useless to post without context. Some of them are straight up WTF as you'll see next week in the anime...

cipher

Yeah as far as I know, no one here is reading the manga (currently at least). As far as pacing (etc) goes, my opinion seems to be the same as rtil/dilly. Although I think the best remedy to fix any parts that feel drawn out is to watch them more frequently instead of once a week.  ...and of course get rid of all those recaps, I bet we lost almost a full episode's worth of content if you add them all up.

rtil

i am pretty sure that sev and ink have read it , or maybe just jake. i may read it eventually if it turns out they're not doing another season for a while
