well, actually i don't think your second point is really that accurate. nobody that i know of is boycotting chik-fil-a because they think it will support gay marriage, they are not buying chicken sandwiches because the company is openly anti-gay and overtly christian. there are also rumors (and some have more evidence than others) of the company donating money to anti-same sex corporations. because going to this company and buying their food would support, if nothing else, an openly anti-same sex marriage believing man, many socially conscious people are avoiding supporting the brand by eating there. it's the same reason people boycott the salvation army. no, it wont immediately make same sex legal, but it causes companies that are proud to be openly anti-gay to lose money.

i guess some dumb christians think that eating at chik-fil-a more often is going to help balance out the boycott. it's fucking dumb because they're trying to belittle homosexuals, but it isn't TOTALLY meaningless.

regardless of how you phrase it, both sides of the fence are absurd. we're politicizing a chicken sandwich. the views of the CEO do not necessarily represent every branch, manager or employee, and i can guarantee you there are gay people that work for chik-fil-a who probably feel isolated by the whole event. funnily enough i'm sure all chik-fil-a employees fucking hated their job during that chik-fil-a appreciation day. at the end of the day though, neither side is doing anything that will change the public face of gay rights. all it's proving is that there are still plenty of bigots in this country.
