i go to both in the sense that i lurk /mu/ for music sharethreads pretty often and occasionally check reddits fp when particularly bored, but i dont post on either

reddit is rarely funny or worth visiting/ the meme image things it has popularized are really terrible and beaten to death/ the whole single minded mentality + sense of entitlement it encourages is really shitty/ i am really really tired of seeing people outside reddit/ on facebook/ in real life using or posting 'me gusta', 'forever alone', 'le', 'trollface' or any of the other rage comic things that were unfunny and embarrassing even before reddit stole them from 4chan

4chan is kinda lame overall but i feel like when people shit on it they are mostly shitting on /b/ and everything that has come from that. i think that 4chan is big and varied enough tho that you can sometimes find worthwhile discussions or people sharing things on the boards dedicated to whatever specific interest you have but tbh i dont ever look at anything but /mu/ so i have no idea!!

I've never really ventured far into reddit. I can't stand the layout or the colour palette. I thought 4chan's new sfw .gif board was okay.

i used to frequent 4chan years ago but i started using it less and less. i used reddit for a bit a few months ago but got tired of it fast and never really stopped using 4chan. although the boards i go on have changed. i used to go on /b/ a lot when it wasn't terrible and then /v/ and now mainly /a/. occasionally /jp/, /v/ and /i/.

if i wasn't on tba though 4chan would still be my main forum. i always really hated forums that weren't anonymous because (as lame as it sounds) i never really fit in in any of the ones i would use. they were mostly maplestory forums though.

as for reddit, i never visited it, don't even know what the page looks like. people in brazil would rather use 9gag (or share 9gag links on facebook) to make stupid effortless comics

reddit. i recently unsubscribed to /r/funny and /r/f7u12 (rage comics), which they automatically subscribe you to when you join reddit, and it's much nicer. probably because i don't go there to see memes and rage comics, i go there to see aggregated news, interesting links and pretty pictures. i could probably get all this stuff from 4chan too, but reddit's format for displaying content is far better. what i mean by that is a few things - first of all, links on 4chan eventually go away , reddit links dont. reddit aggregates content, as in the best content is voted up and more visible. 4chan is just a linear message board based on recent posts. and reddit has far more subcategories for finding what you're looking for, whereas 4chan just has generic boards for niche interests of the people that go there. also it's 4chan.

that being said, "redditors" are unfunny, self-righteous virgins who spend all day trying to make jokes to receive karma, which is absolutely useless. i try not to go into the subthreads unless i know it's going to be juicy, like regret threads or who has the best story about ____.

4chan's standards for Pokemon ROM hacks is extremely low.

They get extremely excited over posts like "OMG LOOK AT ME IM A 12 YEAR OLD WHO FOUND AN EDITOR FOR POKEMON FIRE RED JUST TODAY!  I'M GOING TO DO NOTHING CREATIVE AND ONLY MAKE THE TRAINER BATTLES HIGHER LEVEL".  You know, something anybody can do.

And these hacks that have a home of 4chan never get done.  It's usually just a guy who finds its exciting he can edit Pokemon with a program somebody else made and wants to show off then gets bored in three days and is never heard from again.

I don't visit sites with stupid meme garbage. If I remember correctly I once jumped onto 4chan to see what it was all about and it had the "i'm firin mah lazar" meme all over it and thought how the fuck people can think overused jokes are funny. Then I imagined what these people probably look and have going for them in their lives and felt some clarity in my strange hate for these people.

that they are. there should be a meme filter or some sorts, that picks up on phrases that are overused and marks them as spam or deletes it.

this is why i prefer 4chan. i get that reddit is cool for pictures and everything but i have a ton of other sites i use for things like that.

this is also part of the reason i think it's kind of silly to compare the two because they're extremely different things. 4chan is an imageboard used mostly for discussion or nonsense and reddit is a lot of pictures and aggregated content. it's not so much a site for discussion rather than people whoring themselves out for numbers that do nothing like rtil said. reddit might be a bit better if there was no such thing as comment karma.

but the karma system works - the best content and comments are voted to the top. what they should do though is make a person's karma score hidden from everyone including the person who owns the account.
