Working on a game as well, RPG Maker because i'm a fag. Just some concept art for the over world. The real one will obviously be done with sprite work instead of vector. Making maps is hard it turns out.

A very surreal world map, I think.

Will probably look a lot less surreal once its redone with sprites and tiles.

naturally

usually not a fan of vectors but that looks really cool. curious to see how you carry over the aesthetic to sprites.

I really doubt I will be able to well since I am limiting myself to the Game Boy Colour colour palette, but we will see how it goes.

And animation has started on my next short film. Ditched the black after Ryans suggestion, looks much cleaner now.

i especially like how crisp, clean and well executed these are. they immediately strike me as very professional looking

so yeh ma n i really like these

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

New short is coming along, this was obviously repurposed from the concept art I posted earlier. Pretty happy with how this shorts coming along, even if due to the subject of the short nobody is going to watch it.

is the sun coming closer to him?

Flash

it looks good! the little zoom-in is a nice touch. are you storyboarding for this?

also, why wouldn't people watch it based on the plot? most synopses for web animations are so vague that anyone can get away with anything. :b

It has a looping animation of it growing and shrinking to give it more life, but your right, that looks hella jank in this shot scene. Thanks for pointing it out.

No storyboards this time, I usually do, I have to got my next 6 cartoons already fully storyboarded but for this particular short i'm doing the animatic to the audio. Trying to capture the way the voice over makes me feel in the drawings. Honestly, despite the super limited amount of animation in the short I think its the best thing I have ever done.

As for why people wont watch it, people online don't watch anything that isn't an obvious comedy. Im usually pretty open when i'm working on a short that hasn't got any sense of humour to it and people never watch them for that reason. I would rather have people not watch my stuff in the first place than have them watch it and complain about it not being funny. My stuff tends to do alright on Vimeo, Youtube on the other hand is more of a dumping ground out of obligation at this point. Its almost embarrassing that my shit still gets more views on Newgrounds then they usually do on Youtube, but I guess thats just because the Youtube user base generally aren't the sorts of people I try to make content for, animation wise at least.

Oh boy some more screens from my next film. Its a little over 50% completed now. I ended up redoing the camera from some of the shots in After Effects, I probably could have done them in Flash I suppose, but I try to use Flash for as little as possible when it comes to camera work these days. Drives me nuts with its lack of a Z axis.

Tonight I also got around to watching Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods. Its my first time watching something Dragon Ball related in probably about 8 years. It had some pacing issues but overall I enjoyed the movie, thought it was fun. Hard not to smile while you watch Vegeta sing about Bingo when you grew up with the characters.

Something not a lot of people know is that I (like my artists my age I suppose) went through that stage in my teens (god bless the early 2000's) where I was obsessed with the show and spent a lot of time trying to mimic its anime stylings. I remember setting the VCR to record it before school every morning, watching the first 15 minutes before catching the bus, getting home from school and watching the recording with my sister and then AGAIN with my dad when he got home from work, which was usually about 10 minutes after watching it through the first time (anybody else's dad watch it with them?). It really shaped my life for a long time.

Its certainly not something I think comes through in my more recent work but if you look at my cartoons from 2003/2004 they have their inspirations written all over them. Hell, I even wrote a 150 page manga (which I still have by the way) which was basically just a rip off of DBZ. Suffice to say I gave up on drawing anime before I could ever give up on it, maybe thats for the best, I guess we will never know. I do know that I have never been able to emulate the sense of energy a lot of anime has, maybe some day I will work it out.

Anyway, this is what I drew while I was watching it, that is all.

People who didn't watch dbz with their dad have probably turned to a life of crime at this point in life

Gayzilla.

I haven't used the vectoring style I used in this for 2 or 3 years, felt a little weird, especially since more recent versions of flash have a busted ass gradient tool.
