hellll yeah

The Terminator SEGA-CD soundtrack: "Taking it to the Air"

also, now that I think of it, I can't think of any games with soundtracks fully done by commercial bands. I mean, there are some with a song or two, but a the full soundtrack? Anyone know any?

crazy taxi and tony hawk come to mind

anyway since only posted 1 game soundtrack i'll mention another one, sonic and knuckles. really catchy music , better even than sonic 3 i think. i also think this is the best 2d sonic game.
Sonic & Knuckles Music: Minor bosses
Sonic & Knuckles Music: Mushroom Hill Zone Act 1
Sonic 3 Music: Marble Garden Zone Act 1

trent bortknob

i liked that game a lot just because i liked being able to play as knuckles as a kid.

Lots of driving games, including Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto and Ridge Racer probably.

Since Pants mentioned it earlier, here's a dose of Timesplitters.
#83 - Time Splitters 2 - Chicago

And some more Hitman.
Hitman Blood Money - Jesper Kyd - Secret Invasion

timesplitters 2 had the best soundtrack of the 3 imo, while TS3 is quite obviously the best game.

TimeSplitters 2 Music - NightClub

Yessss. I totally forgot about Sonic and Knuckles. I think I loved every single track in that game. My favourite was the Flying Battery Zone.

dont get me wrong, i love silent hill 1-4, but the in-game music was more just screams, static, some erratic smashing on pipes, and maybe a creepy vocal...

i mean, the credits themes are always good, and the menu themes are memorable, but there was no/not very much in-game music... and now that i think of it, the credits themes were all liscenced commercially O.O

silent hill does atmosphere better than any other game i know of and i think the soundtrack is a huge part of that, which is why it's on my list, not only because i really enjoy the theme and cutscene music as well.

edit: it even managed to make me feel safe at some points with stuff like this

Silent Hill 3 OST - End Of Small Sanctuary

Pants, the terrible

well, i wasnt exactly taking atmospheric themes into account as scored music, but i understand what you mean.

silent hill 3 and 4 have some of the best ambient sound in any game period.

now that's where I don't agree with you. ingame it's not so apparent to many people, but it was indeed music that you've heard. some might say it was ambient music, but again, imho that's not the case. the score was as musical as it can get, it's just that it was heavily filtered / layered. just listen closely on a few youtube vids, and you'll notice what I mean.

Silent Hill OST - 10, 11, 12 - Claw Finger, Hear Nothing, Children Kill
Silent Hill OST - 05, 06, 07 - Over, Devil's Lyric, Rising Sun

Pants, the terrible

logen, thats exactly my gripe. its not heavily noticable during gameplay. when its filtered and layered so heavily, it acts as ambient sound effects to enhance the mood. the game relies more on silence, tension, and then loud, sharp noises. its not meant to be experienced as a series of memorable tracks in-game. thats why i don't consider them defined musical scores.

you know, memorability is something i take heavily into account when deciding my favorite OST's. :P

i remember silent hill (3 and 4 most prominently) as incredibly narrative experiences, with creepy visuals, a few scary pensive noises, and fun.

Wipeout XL Soundtrack 05 The Chemical Brothers Dust Up Beats

In response to Sinister's Wipeout 3 track, here's a track from 2097/XL, my favorite in the series.

Diablo I & II Soundtrack - Tristram Village

This game has plenty of fantastic eerie, satanic ambience, but this track is the obvious standout.

Another ArmA tune. This game single-handedly made me like metal!

Information Society - Ozar Midrashim

This is in fact a commercial track, but it fits the game so perfectly I think it deserves a spot here.
