the bobbing up and down motion is right, but the legs are not. looks more like shuffling or walking in place. you need to have the leg opposite of the leading to lift up off the ground. for the front-facing walk cycle, you'd have to be really subtle about it but it can still be done.

naturally

i actually really appreciate that advice because i was pretty much looking at it the same way. i've been tweaking them a lot but it's difficult for me to get it not to look like he's just shuffling/skating. the first frame leading the foot off the ground on each end looks a bit awkward.

i'll keep working at it because i'd like to have it look presentable on all sides. the left/right ones look especially glidey to me.

since you're working in a very limited space with this pixel art you'll probably have to try it a few times until you get it right. if the character is walking on a flat surface, you'll probably have to have one frame where the lower part of the leg is bigger than the other part . if the camera is lifted above the ground a bit then it might be 1 pixel elongated on the first step. front-facing walk cycles are not easy to begin with so it might take a few tries until you find a something that just looks right.

i actually was using it at the time but erased it before i took the screenshot. i haven't actually used to it to blend colours though so i guess the for shame still applies.

this may be terrible advice and feel free not to listen to me, but i notice you like really big pretty paintings with wide color palettes — why don't you try stealing borrowing colors from a piece or artist you really like when you color a piece? might give you some good color ideas yo

homework for my perspective class

i know it's a bit off so any critique is welcome

rtil

the foreground stuff is good but the house in the distance is on a different grid so it breaks the illusion. lazy nezumi has a built-in live perspective grid that follows your cursor as you draw, and lets you draw on the grid as you move your brush. it's saved me countless hours of work doing perspective-based pieces, you should give it a shot.

naturally

that definitely seems like a handy tool, thanks. i was actually just asked to draw a room with a desk and a chair in one point perspective but i just felt like doing something different. unfortunately it's pretty noticeable at the house and the path off to the right that it's not perfect. i'm happy with it as homework but i want to try using that line art tool next time.
