i am lost for words

this resume pisses me off so much. i actually LIKE the extreme blue program at IBM but this fuck had to go and be a fucking idiot and lower everyone involved and the integrity of the program by putting it on a paper with ponies everywhere. i really do feel badly for all of the places he mentioned.

I'm pretty sure he didn't use this for an actual application. Acting like a faggot online doesn't necessarily mean that you are retarded irl. And I generally think it's more of an 'outdo everything that has done before' thing for most of them. Probably these people even laugh at the guys taking this shit seriously...

At least that's what I hope. My Little Ponyfans Can't Be This Retarded

yeah seriously that's way too much effort for a troll. and if you think that it's unbelievable, just look up bad resumes. there are ones just as bad if possibly not worse than this. some people just do not know the first thing about presentation.

Kött

Some trolls are rather elaborate. This might have been a fan trying to pull off a joke in order to underline his extreme devotion or a hater trying to make fun of bronies (might be a bit too elaborate for that, true). Even if it was a bored brony who did this in the process of creating an actual resume, I'm pretty sure he will shit himself in the final moment and use the alternative version.
Fandom in general is about being the most extreme. Even most of these 2d dating snapshots are mainly setups. I'm sure that there are a lot of idiots out there but idiots don't get academic awards and people who get academic awards would not create this thing for an actual application. It basically contradicts itself, meaning that either the person described is merely an ideal but fake version of the person who made this or he actually is crazy enough to spend the effort for nothing but an elaborate prank. Autism and genius rarely go hand in hand, especially not on this level.

if you look at the credentials it actually doesn't contradict itself at all. the guy is in the computer science field, ergo he spends a lot of time in front of one. you've never really been around people in the CS world, have you? the majority of them are cripplingly awkward, socially dysfunctional people who wind up spending a lot of time online. there were plenty of furries in the CS department in the university i went to - i imagine there's a lot of bronies now as well. sure, they were good at what they did in school, but not much else. you can be brilliant in one area and totally inept in another. generally, they don't understand what is and isn't appropriate to mix with their social lives and their private ones. so a CS guy making a MLP resume seems very believable from my experience. whoever made this probably has no idea how bad of an idea this is because they don't know the social implications of it.

So this is kinda old but I didn't see it in the thread so:

i thought there were so many cases of genius level people with some form of autism they had a word for it, they were called "savants". not of course implying that every genius level savant loves mlp to the point where it is socially unacceptable, but they do seem to be a rather strange bunch

however the bizarre amount of effort that went into that resume (the quality of the english being pretty good even if the content is sickening, it flows nicely and the puns make a surprising amount of sense) i think yeh its probably an elaborate hoax

Informatics was my major in high school and we were a bunch of cool guys. Might have to add that I was one of the best and I don't really consider myself to be very good in CS, thinking about a lot of crazy guys who I know from the internet, so I'm pretty sure our level back then really cannot be compared with the kind of stuff you'd do at university. It was pretty basic.
Thinking back, there was only one guy who really exceeded and he was hired by IBM right after finishing his A levels. He was a bit more timid than the other guys, but by no means socially inept.
We are probably talking about two completely different groups of persons, however, in many cases you won't actually be able to judge people until you have gotten to know them and there simply are a lot of people out there you don't even want to be acquainted with, especially if they embody all that you despise or generally behave awkward. I think that individuals are shaped by their environment and not having many friends must be a vicious circle for many of these persons who you described. Still, I am pretty certain that anyone who manages to apply for university and has previous work experience knows that it would be a bad Idea to apply with a My Little Pony resume, no matter how socially awkward they are.

What I find kinda funny about your description of CS guys is the part about spending a lot of time online. Made me feel kinda involved... but I mean, fuck, who are we then? It's not like a major part of this community's regulars isn't almost constantly on irc. Even normal people with smart phones tend to post about their daily defecation on an hourly base... it's simply nothing special anymore.
Of course it is imaginable that the department has a lot of people with special/nerdy interests and autistic features. Anyone would acknowledge that. But I still fail to understand why that would make a person in such a field outrageously retarded. Most of these things that look too "good" to be true usually are nothing but elaborate jokes or gags for other members of the respective community. I feel bad for even wasting my time discussing it while not even having any relation to it. I have a huge dick.

i'm talking about CS majors in things like computer engineering, real-time simulation and game design. i'd wager a good 3/4ths of them had no idea how to properly communicate with another human being, and were generally awkward or uncomfortable to be around. nothing against the field or those people, but that's just how it was. i wouldn't put it past some of them to make something like that resume. also, his credentials are nothing extraordinary, it sounds like your standard CS student - good at math and programming, bragging about some meaningless academia award for his grades, hopped in on some internships, worked at a startup - probably straight out of school, too. he's no masters student. hell, this was probably his first resume because it sounds like he never needed one up until now.

who are we? i can't answer that question. what i can answer is who i am, and i am a freelance artist and animator whose work revolves entirely around the internet. i can't survive without it. i don't see it as a bad thing, though. i've been able to work with people across the world that i would have never had the opportunity to if it weren't for the internet. and i make a very comfortable living doing it as well.

i feel like if my dad grew up with the internet he'd be a brony or something equally repugnant

thoughts like this keep me awake at night  :(
