after years of crappy new versions, it looks like adobe/macromedia might've finally made some really significant changes to the program that will help out animators, not just web designers and coders. i personally like the looks of this a lot, looks very promising.

what do you guys think about the new features?

we talked about this a few weeks ago

anyway the IK stuff will just do more harm and more good for the animation community. for example it makes it easier for new LF's to pop up but at the same time it will speed production of quality cartoons like foster's that depends a lot on asset based animation

i agree i was pretty wary of that feature. definitely bad implications for flash animations. but if done really well, it could at least lead to some very fun ragdoll style games.

wow, motion guides can be changed... also, adding bones (actually i think theyre called spines and joints though i cant remember) is something that should of been added years ago when 3d programs got it

that arm shit is pretty neat but i dont think i'd use it that much but still fuck that woo guy I hope his goldfish beats the shit out of him and rips his balls through his nostrills and that someone takes a shit in his ears and stuff

Im looking forward to messing around with it and seeing what i can do. Id be interested to see how complex a vector the bone structure can tween.

IK can tween anything you attach it to. i wonder if you can switch it to FK. IK can be good but sometimes people prefer to animate the arms after the body instead of the software deciding some of the movements. with IK (inverse kinematic) you can plant the end of the bone somewhere and the bones will bend according to that position. with FK (forward kinematics), the arm is rooted at the shoulder, so the bones in the arm will stay still until you key them

I can see this coming in handy for animating mechanical stuff, which i kind of preferred a tweened looked to, fbf robots look to organic and non robotic to me.

paradox (or whoever wants to) will end up reverse engineering it, though i think a bunch of paradox are in prison atm
