that remix still makes me really sad

watched the trailer in the cinema on the big ol screen and it looked a bit messy and confusing. the trailer directly before it was for King arthur; legend of the sword and it was pretty much identical in pacing/ how messy and confusing it was

i might still go watch spirit in the case to see if theres any cool concept art stuff / big sci fi visuals. i dont really expect anything more than that, so if there is it will be a pleasant surprise

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

Yeah it's fucked up how wrong they get the pacing/tone of the original '95 adaptation but I guess faithfulness is never the goal with these assclowns.

The casting as well. As so many people have said before based Rinko Kikuichi would have made infinitely more sense for the starring role.

At least the Gunnm adaptation has less embarrassing casting but Cameron and Rodriguez will certainly find ways to irreparably fuck that movie up.

What were you seeing at the cineplex?

we were gonna see logan but we missed the timing so we watched KONG : SKULL ISLAND instead

it was alright. all the pros and cons youd expect from a film like that. script was alright, some pretty visuals, suffered really badly from characters not really reacting to anything happening to them ever, so you always felt a bit distant
20 helicopters knocked out of the air by a fucking massive monkey. everyone spotless and unfazed. "we not gonna talk about what just happened??" no one talks about what just happened. repeat.

im well aware the alternative would have been everybody losing their shit and going a bit insane, which would have been emotionally draining to watch and i cant understand why they didnt haha. but it might have made for a more interesting film
Was John C. Reilly good at least? He's the only draw for me.

Also X-Men: The Last of Us is straight basura don't bother.

Yvonne

I like Reilly in Step Brothers and Guardian of the Galaxy - I don't remember much of Step Brothers.

Thank ya for the warning on Logan - I'll watch it when it comes outta theatre.

Death Note on Netflix - nuh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh.

Bamyasi

The first three PTA movies are essential if you like him, and far better than anything that director's done since imo (barring Punch Drunk Love).

And yeah nice to know Pedowood is moving on from quipcore capeshit and into ruining our favorite Far Eastern franchises. If this leads to more westernization in the anime industry I will probably do something drastic like post angrily on twitter.

Deathflix might be funny at the very least.

reilly was one of the redeeming features. some of his lines that were genuinely funny felt more like improv that they left in

the audience didnt really laugh much. they didnt really react to anything. it was a pretty tough crowd

Are Scottish audiences generally emotive? That can make or break a movie for me honestly.

The last two movies I saw in theaters that I really enjoyed were both amazingly dubbed anime movies, especially this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG3sUoY61es

Which was the most fun I've ever had at a movie because the entire audience was composed of vocally shitposting nerds from /v/. A lot of the dialogue in that seemed ad-libbed as well.

I'm very pro loud jokes in movie theaters as long as they're funny/cute and the movie itself has sarcastic elements.

soup

haha yeh my buddy went to see that very film and it was all just art students and anime lovin couples he said it was great fun

dunno if scottish audiences are any worse, one of the most miserable movie experiences i ever had was when i went to see the martian, and 2 dudes kept laughing VERY LOUDLY for a VERY long time at everything possible. especially the things that werent that funny. it was pretty painful

Well the Martian did win best comedy at the Golden Globes that year so maybe they were with the HFPA.

People laughing at unfunny shit definitely worsens the experience, which is especially a problem around here because I live in a university town full of old professorial types with absolutely terrible senses of humor.

Good japes on the other hand never cease to amuse me. I meant to imply I prefer emotive audiences in those cases.

when i went to see the 1995 GITS movie in theaters a few weeks ago, they played the trailer for the scarjo movie 4 fucking times including some behind the scenes stuff before the movie even started. i'm pretty sure by the last time it played any interest anyone in that theater might have had to go see it had been completely obliterated. it looks like bargain bin cyberpunk trash.

Lmao the exact same thing happened when I saw it everyone was sighing so hard.

"P-please see our movie weaboo-kun." It was so pathetic.
