So I pretty much felt obligated to watch this because I strongly, strongly endorse CN bankrolling more miniseries.
It's good, far more wholesome and less abrasive than whatever they're showing primetime. That said, I think with a slightly more somber tone, a more detailed artstyle (fucking tumblr noses), and more serious writing with less attempts at humor (though a few of the gags were good), and perhaps a 22 minute runtime for each episode, it really could have been a masterpiece. Everything else is there really: story, characters, a great concept for each episode, and especially the music, which is fantastic and pretty much the show's finest attribute (I mean fucking listen to this). A few of the later episodes could really have been something special had those things happened. There's also a twist around the 9th installment that I'm still on the fence about, but your mileage may vary.

All in all worth watching I guess, but I really wish someone could explain why CN is so afraid of producing serious cartoons, because OtGW really wanted to be one. I know they've always done comedy but I'm sure there are a lot of kids out there who were like me and would treasure something that didn't patronize them, because let's face it, they're already talked down to by the rest of their selection (Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, Clarence, not Gravity Falls because I like Gravity Falls). If people don't think stuff like that would sell in 21st century America, I'd just point them to Avatar, not Sym-Bionic Titan.
"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

This series was beautiful! I actually want to watch it at least 5 more times to completely understand that twist and any of the other details that they may have put into it.
