That trailer looks pretty cool... too bad most of the stuff from the first season that I had the honor of watching sucked ass... I didn't even completely finish it.
I kinda started to hate cliffhanger shows like SnK while they are still airing because you always have this urge to know how the story continues without ever reaching any point of closure before the final episode. But Space Dandy had no cohesion whatsoever and that kind of demotivated me...
I'm probably gonna catch up at some point but I'm really hoping SII will give this show some sort of sense.

Honestly I think 99% of this show's problems could have been solved by writing in a recurring female Aloha Oe passenger/reccuring female villain/arch-villain. The infrequency of interesting female characters on this show annoyed me way more than any "sexism" present in Kill la Kill.

But yeah that PV looks great goddamn. Season 1 never lived up to the promises made in it's PV/pilot. The most surprising thing that happened was the characters dying in the first episode. The writers didn't take many (read: any) risks after that. But that PV goddamn. It's probably better than the show will be.

actually one or more characters 'died' at the end of a couple of episodes besides the first one. dr. gel dies more than anyone else. it's widely believed that each episode of dandy explores different branches of time and dandy has some sort of ability to rewind time and do certain things over. like groundhog day but a little more twisted. here's a timeline explaining it:

[spoiler]it was a great way to open up the 2nd season. i loved emo dandy and his robot meow. also lots and lots of references to other animes and pop culture things. this is also the 2nd time they've harped on strings having to do with multiple universes. like the ramen noodle episode.[/spoiler]

So it feels like they're really trying to experiment as much as possible with the animation from episode to episode. The Munagi one gave me some strong Ghibli vibes in the character design, with some Ukiyo-e and watercolor mixed in.

As much as I like how visually interesting the episodes can be, it's getting hard to be excited about Dandy each week. I'm starting to realize how much I need character-driven narrative to really enjoy something.

i think watanabe is just letting each director animate in their own style without having to keep to any serious guidelines, because the style changes are pretty drastic from episode to episode. the animation quality can widely vary as well.
