QuoteSonic the Hedgehog, the iconic video game character who has brought his trademark speed and attitude to four TV series and more than 70 video games, is returning to television in his first-ever CG animated series in the fall 2014. The action packed comedy series aimed at children 6-11 will debut first on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and on CANAL J and GULLI in France, with a global rollout to follow. The initial order of 52 eleven-minute episodes is co-produced by SEGA of America Inc. and Genao Productions.

Sonic Boom is a character-driven comedy that leaves a trail of robot wreckage in its smoldering wake. The series centers on Sonic, his best friend and sidekick, Tails, their never-ending search for adventure, and their battles with Sonic's arch-nemesis, Dr. Eggman. Rounding out the ensemble are fan favorites Knuckles and Amy Rose, plus a rogue's gallery of enemies—some familiar to Sonic fans and some brand-new.

looks like knuckles really has been flexing his muscles.

most likely, but i'm still curious about it. i'm also kind of surprised by it. there aren't many video game to cartoon adaptations anymore. the most recent one i can think of is that terrible pac-man one

psi43

Heard about that a few times now, I'll probably watch the first few episodes to see if it's good.

Whenever I hear the title though, I think about:

if its aimed at 11 year old kids then i dont see why anyone would expect it to be good anyways.

if its a sonic cartoon i dont know why people would expect it to be good anyways.

rtil

i don't think anyone is expecting it to be good. i'm morbidly curious about it.

but cartoons aimed at children can still be intelligent and enjoyable to watch for people of any age. whether or not the writers choose to do that is another thing.

soup

if its aimed at 11 year olds, maybe 11 year olds would think it was good?? ?? ? ?? ?? ??? ??           ??      ?

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

rtil

11 year olds have a very high tolerance for what classifies as entertainment. the annoying orange being a tv show is a testament to that

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

I assume you're referring purely to the Occident, but has there ever been a good Western adaptation of a Japanese franchise?

i am, that's why i didn't say anime. and to answer your question, not to my knowledge, no.

Bamyasi

Sorry I must have an automatic wordfilter in my head that reads "cartoons" as "Chinese cartoons".

And I mean if we're including stuff from Europe I guess Wakfu counts.

rtil

wasn't wakfu made to basically promote the game though? like that is the reason it exists, not because the game was popular and would do well on tv or anything

Bamyasi

I wouldn't know but you're probably right.
