thanks! the first bg is when he is leaving his home to start a new life at university. his parents are faded because they're not really that important to the story.. the 2nd bg will probably be used multiple times and have more than one seasonal variety, but between the 1st and 2nd one he is seeing the campus for the first time.

oh and don't get too excited we have barely scratched the surface in terms of tangibility. but as far as writing goes there is quite a bit done. "act 1" as it were is pretty much done.
