i am casting my ballot mostly for state and local matters. in washington state we are voting for the legalization of gay marriage and marijuana regulation. if R-74, the amendment to legalize gay marriage passes, we will be the first state in the nation to legalize gay marriage by popular vote. in every other state so far it has been through the courts.

it is looking like it will pass which is awesome. i don't think the marijuana bill will pass, but it will be close. i don't smoke it but i am against the war on drugs and i think it's absurd that someone caught with an ounce of marijuana can be thrown in prison with violent criminals. also i know a lot of people who do smoke it and they are great, hard working and fun people with lives and families who do nothing wrong.

also, one of the guys running for a local office lives in my building and is blind. he's a really cool guy and i think he's gonna win.

if you live in the states, you should care . maybe not about the presidency (depending on where you live) but at least about other issues on the ballot. there were about 30 things on my ballot and a lot of them were important issues.
