Any good games this year?

Sort of feels like nothing good has actually come out this year. Every time I think of one, I look it up and it turns out it's from late 2011.

Well generally speaking the biggest game release season is the end of the year, 2012's just having been kicked off by Borderlands 2. But its the same reason why all the notable ones came out late 2011. There's still some good releases this year [so far] for sure though, it's just that the best is yet to come.

borderlands took the linearity of an fps and combined it with the grind of an rpg for a woefully shitty and unfun game

borderlands 2 continues this trend except this time around i didn't expect it to be good

guild wars 2 is apparently good but i haven't tried it, guild wars 1 was ok though it didn't stand out to me as much

mechwarrior online is great but it's not really released yet and they're unsure when they feel it will be viable to go into open beta, they were aiming for august 2012 but now it's just sometime in 2012

the secret world? though this fell off hard it was a great solo experience supposedly and might go F2P soon

diablo 3 sucks solo, is fine with other people, but not a truly outstanding or amazing game

torchlight is like diablo but without the cool cutscenes, torchlight 2 is more or less the same

honestly most talk has been about borderlands 2 and torchlight 2 but neither are any good

i don't give a shit about console games and neither should any of you because they're bad

for online shooters there's counter-strike global offensive which is a decent remake of the original (though still just a remake ) and tribes ascend which kicks ass and is another extremely good game

dark souls is 2011 and rayman obviously doesn`t count either (2011 original release). never played any of the others but i`d only agree with p4 arena, journey and maybe sleeping dogs.

commanding a space fleet or mutating into an animal are quite different as they are entirely impossible

outdoor sports and digital games are just two things that don't make sense to put together

like, chess or card games can work, especially since there'd be no way of pulling an ace out your ass

but soccer? come on, kick a ball, kick the can, playing games to imagine you're some shitty brazilian soccer pro who murdered his model girlfriend is kind of DUMB

yeah i have to agree with sin. i find sports games really goddamn boring. a lot of that probably has to do with the fact that i don't like sports, but as a game i also generally find games that mimic reality to be very uninteresting. it's a video game. it can be whatever the designers want it to be, so why would i play a game about something that already exists and is very accessible? also, most of the people ive seen who play these games are actually just casual gamers falling in the "bro" demographic who can and do enjoy playing sports.

i don't think this is a valid argument. people don't become the commander of a space fleet or fight monsters because these things don't exist in the real world, not because people are too out of shape to do it. that's what makes them interesting games. because they give you experiences you would otherwise never be able to have.
