King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969) Full Album

this is now a 'in the court of the crimson king' thread

My favourite song is 21st century schizoid man, closely followed by the title track.
Overall I feel it probably deserves the 'classic album' label that so many people seem to give this album, altough i feel they could probably cut off the last 7 minutes or so from moonchild because that song just drags on and gets pretty awful. I still think it's King Crimson's strongest album (altough this was the only album recorded with this particular line up, the follow up 'in the wake of poseidon contained mostly the same people but it just feels like a less good version of ITCOTCK) also it has a nice album cover.

i'm a huge crimson fan but i don't like that album that much
i love 21st century schizoid man but the rest of the album just isn't my style. their best stuff imo comes from the '73 lark's tongues/starless and bible black/red trilogy

also yea moonchild is a bit too long but i hear they cut it down quite a bit in the 40th anniversary edition (which was remixed and changed around a bit by fripp himself and steven wilson from porcupine tree)

Ah, I started with the first album and went chronologically, I think I gave up after Islands or Lizard (whichever is the later one) I will listen to that trilogy of albums once i get an oppurtunity to do so (like right now because its probably on youtube) thank you for the recommendations

also i just have a little playlist for itcotck, starts out with the title track, 'I talk to the wind' sounds fantastic as a followup because the former ends and the latter starts with pretty much the same instrumentation and key signature and then i top it all off with 21st century schizoid man (Moonchild is too long and Epitaph gets boring after a couple of listens)

lmao i used to do the same thing but with 21st century schizoid man and pictures of a city (sure they're similar but i still really like them both)
i'll try using this order you posted tho it sounds like it might be fun

p.s. i dig all their 80s "discipline" album but the two follow-ups kinda suck, then they released thrak which is alright and the power to believe which is very good
and you're right lizard isn't very nice, there's just too much going on all the time
