to those of you who have a problem with it - serious question, i'm actually curious why it's mocked. you all are able to and do look at real pornography in private (unless you're taylor bortner), a relatively recent perk of modern society. but before the advent of home video and photography, what do you think guys and girls jerked it to? it was art. art in all kinds of different styles, representing a multitude of fetishes and sexual acts that people found pleasure in. why is it strange or abnormal to you that this is still practiced today? yes there are kinds of drawn pornography that get a little out there, but they cater to a certain audience, and the porn industry does the same thing. just because you don't understand it doesn't mean you have to be afraid of or mock it. everyone has their own fantasies. for those that fantasize fictional characters were real, how much different is that from those with the unlikely fantasy that they could have sex with a porn star? for those that find a certain sexual act desirable, what difference does it make if it was performed on a video or drawn on a computer screen? i don't understand the negative stigma that goes along with something that's a natural part of human history. does anyone disagree with me, or understand what i'm saying?

The reason why I find the thread bad is because I would never expect this forum to actually have a serious pornographic thread. i can understand how that would be uncomfortable for some people. for me i just see it as everyone does it and i'm not ashamed of it, so i don't have any problem with sharing it.

no but that is definitely part of why some people here like hentai and enjoy that thread. sexualization IS an aesthetic that can enrich thnigs in ways other than inspiring people to beat off to the content. no one here plays katawa shoujo to masturbate to the girls in it, and the placement of sex in katawa shoujo isn't there to appeal to lonely nerds, it's just part of the story. likewise, a lot of the work shared in that thread is "vanilla", with plenty of the stories appealing by just being a good story. it's like how people were getting all fussy about the sexualized designs in skullgirls and saying it was a panderfest when in reality it's just part of the aesthetic of the game. imo violence works the same way. enjoying violence in something doesn't make you a sadist or a sociopath, it's just part of the story and it often enriches the content.

although im sure plenty of semen was spilled over that thread, all im saying is im pretty sure the whole point wasnt to start a (literal) circlejerk. people like what's in that thread for varying reasons, and with content from vanilla all the way to fucking DICKGIRLS in there, i'd say it's really impossible to generalize and assume everyone has the same reason for participating.

I am indifferent to the hentai thread. I just wanted to post this out of context cause it made me laugh but now I'm going to add a massive paragraph.
The way I see it is that we have a hentai thread rather than a porn thread on tba is due to the creative community that resides here. Not saying that porn can't be creative but there is a high bias here towards drawings, illustrations and animation over video filming.
I guess here in the west, hentai is usually mocked because of the cultural idea that cartoons are for children and therefore cartoon porn represents something that is very wrong and therefore only strange individuals would enjoy it. Add that modern japanese art tends to depict women as looking younger and I guess it can put a lot of people off.
