The way you draw noses is pretty cool.

The whole sharp teeth with biting the cross in the mouth piece is so very Alucard. Good manga to draw inspiration from. :)

Oh yeah, that drawing was done for Halloween, so I drew some of my characters as the ones from Hellsing, hence the resemblance. (For the hell of it, Dravis as Alucard, Red as Seras Victoria and Snow White as Integra Hellsing, and yes I know my character names are derp-tarded)

this. pretty cool stuff, i'd also recommend looking at the color choices of different artists you like and experimenting with more interesting colors, when you color something it feels like you don't know what to do with it and you sort of throw down default sort of flat colors.

Good idea, I don't color much at all, should probably work on that at...some...point.

I pride myself in my unnecessarily detailed noses and teeth.

WIP, a panel from the first page of my comic.  :D

First page is finally done, with two more already mostly finished(sort of...)

Overall, I'm very happy with how this came out, especially the top and bottom two panels, there are some proportional issues and other small things that could be improved on with the middle two panels, but otherwise all is well.

rtil

well right off the bat i think we know what to expect out of this comic :bugs:

i really like the sketchy, grungy look to the comic :D keep it up!

<@reptilicus> am I in backwards land?

Thing is, a lot of the stuff is actually really refined. You can't tell as much with this page as its more action-intensive, but for the msot part I spend a LOT of time on the linework of characters, focusing on lots of minute details that for the most part don't matter.  >.>

Edit: Here is a preview of about a half of the 3rd page.

Updated the second page with some flats, and got two more pages and done:

Thoughts? Criticisms? Critiques? (And yes, I am aware of some of the proportional errors, especially in the face on the bottom right 3rd page.)

rtil

i don't think that adding the shades of gray adds much to the page, in fact i think it sort of takes away from the style you have chosen. you put down so many black marks, i would think that you would use black hatching to do shading instead of a gray wash behind it all.

harrison2142

I tried that, and first off it ends up taking FOREVER with hatching, and a lot of times I just end up unhappy with how things turn out in general, I'll try messing around with it on these pages and I'll see how it turns out.

rtil

perhaps a hatch-style brush might help you out, like a brush that looks like several lines put together, like scratch marks. i use things like that sometimes when trying to achieve a similar effect

harrison2142

Huh, might have to check that out.

What is she looking at?

Alternatively, it might be me, but I'm a bit thrown off by her eyes suddenly opening and the very next panel being her calmly turning as if to look at something, as opposed to "wait--where am I again". Is the person's eyes the "viewers'" or the person "turning to the viewer"? I think it wouldn't be so jarring if the big establishing panel was something like a jolt (to clarify whose eyes those were), and the next being either as it is or some other "calming down" sort of thing.

harrison2142

It is supposed to be one of those "wait what is going on things?". She is looking at the viewer/reader so that you know that she is important/she is the one who just woke up. I realized after doing this page, and working through most of the one after it(which I haven't uploaded yet since it isn't done.) that there would be a much better way of handling this concept by having her actually wake up in a frikn BED or something. But, its all a learning process which is why I'm up for trying lots of different things with this as I go, even when pages are "completed".

Chances are, that I'll change even more as I go along. Who knows.

harrison2142

Sketch in SAI, so far I'm really liking how it handles quick strokes and fun crap like that.

rtil

sai is pretty cool. i like that it can blend but that's not of much use to me.

harrison2142

Just chillin' in infinite white space.

harrison2142

Tryin' out some things, along with poor image quality!
