i don't hate bf3 itself though, and can't really say how deep it goes, but most games with unlocks are kind of gimmicky and bad

Gladius

played the campaign about halfway through

not as exciting as medal of honor or any of the cods and doesn't look or play as good as crysis

so far i'd give it 7/10, not too bad but needs to be less of a WANNABE

also origin isn't that bad either.

sure it's got a fraction of steam's range at higher prices and it spies on you but what doesn't invade your privacy these days?

everyone who was turned off the game just because of origin implicitly revealed that they weren't even all that interested in the first place, and i don't blame them.

This is basically what I felt when I played it. It's good for sure, but at times, its trying to hard to be like CoD (especially with the campaigns)

i dunno if i'd call the unlock system in battlefield 'grinding' - the more you play a class, the more stuff you get, and you get them fairly quickly. it rewards you for playing the classes that you like, and if you play every class equally you still get unlocks available to all classes. the gameplay is engaging from the get-go, they don't start you off with a bad kit. no matter what your kit is, the team that exhibits the most teamwork will win, period. this isn't cod where everyone is rambo trying to get the most kills. in battlefield you have to play the objective.

the game is already good without unlocks. the unlocks make the game even better. you can see what you're going to get and when, and you can get things you want by simply playing the game in your style.

but yea, the main problem with bf3 is the way the game is launched. origin AND battlelog both have to be working in order to play. if one of them goes down, you can't play the game. origin does absolutely nothing to enhance the game experience, and VoIP has been moved to battlelog for some reason, so you can't even talk to your entire team or even a squad - only people you are in a party with. that leaves you with only the chat box and the marking system, which is designed not to work in hardcore mode, so teamwork can be difficult if you're playing alone. it's so segmented and it doesn't really make sense.

battlelog's server browser and stats pages are far superior to bc2's interface - it makes sense for a pc. but, like i said, there's no reason it couldn't have been in the game itself. the game shells only purpose is to play in an isolated server environment, and to change your kits and options.

Gladius

beat campaign. overall not too bad but the ending was pretty abrupt and left me wanting more.
