Okay, something different. I've been doing a ton of freelance voice work, and figured now would be the time to make a website since I've been asked so many times in the past to do one.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo,  I was wondering if any of you folks out there would help me out by giving me your thoughts on a layout I'm working on for my site?

Here's what I have so far, but it's not sitting right with me. :/




What you're looking at is a rough rough rough rough draft I did around 12 at night while playing L4D2. I really stink at it, but I enjoy making custom layouts... so any help would be great!

i don't like the top buttons. i think they should be white and look more like tabs attached to the design, or just on their own as text. i think it'd be cool to have an image more personal to you than a stock photo of mics behind the name of the site too

A little hard to read maybe adjust the colors so it can be read easier just a suggestion for the smaller font text. I don't think it looks to bad other then that.
Well the font might be slightly bigger when its  seen through a browser.

I would say the weakest aspect are the buttons on top, they seem a little out of place. Same goes for the font you used for them, doesn't seem very buttony if you get what I'm saying. Same goes for the font used under the title (the official website of Cassie Ewulu). If you want to have text there that's totally fine, but the font you have now doesn't contrast very well with the font of the title. I guess you could change either one of them.

The white box behind the welcome/resume text sticks out unevenly on the right. I see what you were trying to do, but it seems a little off. Also I'm not sure about the drop shadow.

Okay I think I know why the buttons look weird. You chose to use curved edges on all the other square things, except for the buttons. I don't think making the buttons have curved edges will make them look perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. It would probably look better if they were incorporated into the main image, instead of floating on top. Okay I just noticed another thing. All the titles on the page start with lower case letters (which I like), however the buttons start with capitals. Generally speaking as far as graphic design goes, peoples seem to prefer all caps or all lower case letters, so take your pick.

Hopefully that wasn't to over the top. I think critiques and things are much more effective if people just skip the part talking about what they like. Well, hope that was of some use
