I went to this bar once and ate squid and saw creepy chinese mafia-looking dudes. Nobody spoke English and I stood out like a sore thumb haha :] At least they were nice and and had good drinks

All the industrial stuff in your cities/towns are awesome!

My town's community college has a teaching zoo. If you major in Exotic Animal Training & Management there, you get to learn how train lions, hyenas, seals, and a bunch of other animals. But, you kinda have to survive insane biology, zoology, and taxonomy classes for around 3 years before you're allowed to train animals, though.

Apparently, a good chunk of the EATM graduates end up training killer whales and dolphins at SeaWorld-ish parks, if not animals for film/TV shows and at other zoos around the world.

The thing I like most about being a student at that college is that we get a discount, whether or not we major in EATM!

Fun Fact: Attend a zoology course and keep talking about how tasty animals are. The EATM majors, primarily being strict vegetarians, will hate you.

It's scary, terrifying, and border-line inhumane, but it's supposed to desensitize students to what comes natural in the circle of life. Animals will die and animals will eat one another.

I don't know and I wish I did. My friend in the major, who wasn't "in" it yet, was told this by those in the training-the-animals part and I think it might be something said just to scare the undergraduates. I can't shake that it might be true that you have to snap the mouse's neck, no matter what, though, especially since the "gateway class" into the EATM program (zoology) made a big deal about "If you can't dissect dead animals, you can't train the living animals".

BTW: SanFran Chinatown looks sooooooooo much cooler than LA's Chinatown! So brightly lit!

this is Ybor city. its basically a glorious tumor of tampa
its a place full of ghettos, rundown buildings, trolleys, hobos, partying, clubs, theater, and art.
theres alot of amazing art studios here, most of whom i've shamelessly begged for jobs at.
it has an imax 3d theater

theres a place near this where my favorite bands VNVNation and Kid Koala performed
its a very gothy club. a guy dressed as batman dances there every night.

he got arrested last year. he's been out for a while though.


this is how it looks at night

you can usually find me hanging out in front of a sandwich shop smoking a big fresh hand-rolled cigar made by one the many cuban cigar makers who have set up shop on the main street. That place on the right is a place called FRESH MOUTH BURGERS who want you to SHUT YER YAP and other things. They make damn good hamboigas.



During the day, Ybor is just a town with a big main street full of closed down dance clubs, art studios, and small businesses.
Its very quiet for the most part. The trolleys that go through the street go all the way to DOWNTOWN TAMPA which is where the Tampa Theater and skyscrapers of the city all hang out.

It's also where the comic book and anime conventions occur.


at night the place lights up.
alot of cops in cars and on horses run up and down the streets. music, food, dance, singing, and the thick aroma of pot float through the air.


the place gets VERY crowded on weekends.


Behind this seafood place is the sandwich place I like to go to. If this were before my move, you'd find me here just about every weekend enjoying a garlicy vegetable sandwich.




This is Downtown Tampa. It sits right on Tampa Bay which is a giant body of water with many boats.


One of the many places on the bay is Tampa University. It's a very arty college with a cool design. I did not go here I went somewhere cheap and bad called IADT.


Near the outskirts of the city is the old Tampa Theater. Its a beautiful old theater where plays, concerts and movies happen. When the Animation Show came to Tampa they went there. Alot of indy film festivals.


It's very dark inside but beautiful. Hand sculpted statues are everywhere. The ceiling is dark blue felt with little lights in it so it looks like a night sky.
I always told myself if I ever get a movie made that can be in theaters, I'd go here first. I love this place.


Far from the theater on the other side of the city is the TAMPA BAY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER.
It's a big place where really big budget plays and musicals go. I don't like it as much as the Tampa Theater.

It's usually really expensive and very posh. This is where fancy people go. I went here once with my mother back when she was sane and still cared about our family. She got tickets to see the Radio City Rockettes here. It was bad as all ass.


This is the Tampa Bay Convention Center. Many conventions and fancy big business meetings come here. This is where the yearly anime/comic convention called METROCON occurs. You will find me wandering around dressed as a STALKER this year. MAYBE.
Theres also an amazing gelato and italian ice place up a hill near here.

Also near that is Channelside. Channelside is alot like Centro Ybor but its not in the ghetto and is meant to be more ritzy like Las Vegas. It's OK. The best part is a pizza place called like NY COP PIZZA. It's so fucking good pizza oh god.

That blue glass place on the left is the Florida Aquarium. It's worth visiting once. It's exactly what it sounds like.

However if you want to see wildlife, you should just wander into any of the many random forests that surround all the suburbs here. Chock full of animals and big ass bugs.

Or just go here. Lowry Park Zoo. It's a really fancy Zoo. My friend Mike (who stars in this) is a zookeeper there. He carries alligators around and other crap. They have a place where you get a cup of nectar and like 50 birds land on you trying to get it. And a place where you can feed adorable baby sting rays. They also have bigass fruit bats.




Far far away from all this crap are the fairgrounds. A creepy blank spot of land full of empty buildings. These buildings have computer, technology conventions. And reptile shows. I go to those alot cause I love reptiles (could you tell?). There are many cute turtles.
Heres what it looks like when theres a concert.


And here's how it looks when the fair comes to town. The fair is GREAT.

Cause the fair brings cool livestock, neat products, religious zealots, celebrities, strawberry shortcake, art shows, delicious greasy food, rides, music, robots, hot girls, places where you can eat insects, FREAK SHOWS, russian clowns, crime, and lots of other fun shit.


Attached to the Fairgrounds but not part of the Fair is Cracker Country.

A small town meant to accurately show life in the past. Like pilgrim times.

It's pretty great. You can get handmade popcorn, make candles, make whips, listen to bluegrass music. Homemade lemonade, chickens and ducks running everywhere.
The people there do work too. Running steam engines, making sugar from sugar cane, building houses, building sentries, etc



Take note.

These are the "city" parts of Tampa. Which are very small.
Most of Tampa is suburbs, tall grass, with lots of ponds and quiet lonely beaches surrounded by hotels that are dying due to lack of tourism.


The lack of tourists is nice though. Theres no traffic and I can walk on foot anywhere I want.


However, ever since my friends moved, we rarely go to any of the above places anymore except maybe once or twice a year.

Most of our time is spent in a neighborhood on Bruce B Down.

And most of the fun we have comes from having a drink at Mr.Dunderbaks. Which is a german bar, restaraunt, and shop where you can buy imported german goods. They have the best beer in the world imported here.


Its a great place and if I didnt hate/fear you all I'd say if you ever came down to join me for a drink here.




That's Tampa. Between all these places are miles of forests, roads, and small quiet suburban neighborhoods covered in plant overgrowth, vines, palm trees, parrots, and massive bugs crawling everywhere.
