i had rhapsody for like 2 months courtesy my older brother

it was strange in that, i couldn't find half the music artists i liked and, the other half they did have didn't have all the songs i wanted. i think this was in it's early stages i don't remember.

it wasn't a pay to play system at that time, it was a 'put whatever you want on OUR mp3 player of choice' system. only a few mp3 players worked with it. and the songs would "expire" if you didn't hook up the device to your computer every two weeks. so, literally, your ENTIRE music library on your device would expire at once, even if you owned the songs (by either buying them through rhapsody or buying them elsewhere, but even just SYNCING through rhapsody).

it was not pleasant!

rtil

sounds like a great way to make a bunch of people really angry

anyway, some more updates on the zen.

turns out there is a "view all tracks" option for any artist, you just have to access it via the menu. kind of weird, but it's there.

another thing the zen has that ipod classics don't have is a music queue. i was told new ipod touches do have this feature now, and it's about time. the zen is a 3 year old player.

i also read you can add tracks to pre-existing playlists on the player itself, but i still haven't been able to do it. the UI operates a lot differently than what i am used to.

oh god it must be terrible

'2. RealNetworks RealPlayer (1999)'

"A frustrating inability to play media files--due in part to constantly changing file formats--was only part of Real's problem. RealPlayer also had a disturbing way of making itself a little too much at home on your PC--installing itself as the default media player, taking liberties with your Windows Registry, popping up annoying "messages" that were really just advertisements, and so on."

lmao
Whenever iTunes is slow or it takes a bit to start up I just remember the terrible realplayer that was used in the only computer in our house, and whenever we wanted to sync a device rhapsody took at least 5 minutes (not exaggerating at all, I timed it once) to start up, and after that it's still a tortuous piece of application to configure. It has to be the worst most jumbled mess of a media player I've ever seen. plus there's ads for the shitty realplayer that comes with it, which is the gayest thing ever ever ever ever ever.
and isnt rhapsody a DRM, pay-to-play service? and the recording industry wonders why people hate them so much
yeah we used to buy music because  we were noobs

rtil

buying music is fine as long as it doesn't have DRM

MarcK

yeah our sandisks needed to sync with rhapsody every few days and it was totally utterly shitty
