yeah its for college. Im doing a spanish and theater double major. i actually hear that the program is really intense and that you're taking classes for like 8 hours a day since they're trying to cram an entire semesters worth of information into one month.

the only thing im worried about is that mugging and theft is really common, especially if you are a tourist. there are all these rules about what we are allowed to wear and how we should behave in spain because if we stand out as americans, we will 100% get robbed. lmao

ya, when i went there senior year of high school with a few of my classmates someone tried to rob us at knifepoint while we were out in the middle of the night. made me glad to have a black friend

this is actually really easy to do, here are some simple rules i can give having lived in spain
-don't stare at buildings/pretty architecture for long
-walk like you have a destination

Also, a lesson learned from a high school girl that happened to be in the same tour group as mine when we traveled across Europe, DON'T go for a jog in the ghetto at dusk.

my friend got robbed by a crazy gyspy chick

she just walked up to him and "read his palm" and then pur her hand out asking for money

he gave her some change and she started yelling "PAPEL! PAPEL!" (paper) and so he got out his wallet some cash and she reached in and took all of the money and ran off

definitely speak spanish as much as you can to prevent people from thinking you're american (even though your accent might be a little obvious, at least it won't be completely obvious that you're not from there like it would be if you were speaking english)

don't walk around at night ever unless it's completely necessary and make sure you have like some mace or something (in fact just get something to protect yourself with even if you're just walking around)

wear fitted clothes (since you're a girl this is probably a given anyway)

put your wallet in your front pocket. this is completely weird to most americans who are used to putting it in their back pocket, but it'll be a whole lot harder for a thief to reach into your front pocket than your back pocket, and it'll be especially hard for them to do it without you noticing

oh wait you're a chick you probably could just put it in your purse. well actually your front pocket might be better because a pickpokcet could just reach inside your purse
