Title of old anime

I have a coworker who's been trying to remember the title of an anime he saw back in the 90's (1994 to be exact). Thought you guys might be able to help. This is how he described the plot:
"It's set in a galactic battle between two alien species. One consists entirely of women, the other is completely unknown. Both governments are working together in secrecy to create a new kind of species to reproduce or something...carrying a new kind of legacy. The ships carrying out the project are suddenly under attack, one is captured, one of the female aliens gets impregnated and gives birth to a boy, same ship gets attacked again and before it gets destroyed, a female crew member and her now grown son (all in a matter of hours) abandon ship and land on a planet that is later known as Earth."
WHEW! I think I got it all. So...does anyone have any idea what the name of this particular anime is?

your description started out as a similar anime that's a comedy where there's a race entirely of females and one of males. the females come in contact with the males and there's a war. the guys get their asses kicked cuz the women had far superior technology
