Today in class someone called me out because my style is too "cartoony" then introduced me to his gallery of sailor moon furry fanart and I was like

makes me glad on like my first day of college one of the professors was like "if all you can draw is sailor moon or DBZ, you're in for a very difficult time in this actual art class"

I do believe there are people out there that can produce cool anime and who have great comprehension of anatomy and all that stuff and that make me say "wow this is nice man!" but... im talking about 5% of all the "anime people" ive met

the other 95% is a buncha faggots who have notebooks and sketchbooks full of "anime catgirls" or "girls" or "naked body art" or any shit that they make that has something to do with boobs.

i mean i don\\\'t draw that much but when i do i\\\'m not really trying to imitate anyone so does that me uninspired? because i feel pretty uninspired when it comes to just drawing in general

i don't think i'm one to judge that, but i think the best artists start by borrowing from people, places or whatever inspires them, and then developing it into something they can call their own

Personally, I believe this is the key of being a great artist, "breaking the mold" if you will. Wether it is music, drawing or any form of art, delivering things in a unique way separates the really great artists from "uninspired artists".

I believe there is probably a point in any artist´s life where he/she will try to imitate another person´s style, but even so, that artist tries more styles or ways of getting things done. So eventually those influences dont define the limits of their work, instead they reinforce it.
In other words, ( this is how I see things) an uninspired artist falls in the bunch of the other 100000 ones who just got influenced by others, but didnt get past that.
