sorry, for making so many art threads! i promise this is the last one. so anyway,

WOO!

my dad surprised me with a wacom for hanukkah!! fuck line tool shit =D

so here is a screenshot from a flash that i've been working on since rtil helped me crack CS4
i originally drew the outline with my touchpad, but with the wacom i was able to redraw, color, and refine it. I wish i could have done a better job shading, but i honestly have no idea how to do proper cel-shading in flash. im still pretty unfamiliar with it =/
the reason why the background is plain, is because im currently trying to make a nice background in photoshop

so yeah, that's pretty much it. i know it isn't much, but criticism and advice would be much appreciated =]

rtil

the cel shading looks fine to me. good choice of colors

look forward to seeing a backdrop

do the characters have faces? i've noticed all your full bodied characters never have one. while it could be on purpose, i think it's important characters at least have eyes they're the windows to our soulssssss

DrRumack

yeah its very good but like rtil said the lack of eyes is kinda weird

<Naza> i hate penis exect mine
<Tyler Naugle> JOKE  TIME w/ JOKEOB BRECK

Flash

the colors are great =]
the rest has already been said

shura

i hate drawing faces DX
i might just make her hair longer so i can just cover up her face =/

actually...

there is a part of the flash where you do get to see her face. i'll color it and put that up here

You seem to be very familiarized with anatomy,( wich I know its basic for an animator and Im working on it too).

I dont really mind the eyes and such, I guess that is part of your style.

i saw someone mention "fisheye" in another thread, so i thought i would give it a shot.

this is a girl playing soccer. why she has no pants, i do not know. i just omitted them for some reason. whatever, people play soccer in their underwear, right? in japan??

so here's my first attempt at fisheye, drawn in flash. i didn't use the "fisheye filter and trace" technique because my photoshop doesn't have a fisheye filter, so i drew this freehand. but i did use another picture as a reference. i had A LOT of trouble with this. =P
i don't feel great about this piece, but i think it came out alright for my first time =/

it's good for a first time
only things i see wrong is her left arm seems too thin, and the right leg kinda confuses me but yea first time
<lenko> i saw a hedgehog on the way home if i was drunk i would have yelled IM DOCTOR RRRRROBOTNIK and chased it

rtil

a fisheye filter wouldn't work so well because it requires depth to know what to distort more. so it would probably look strange on art that wasn't meant to be viewed in a fisheye lens to begin with. this is a pretty good shot at it , i think there are a few lines that are causing problems but it's not really worth mentioning. a lot of issues can be cleverly solved with coloring & tone

shura

OKAY. so i know i never draw faces. facial anatomy is difficult for me, especially noses.  so i've been practicing a lot.

question about coloring:  i tried to color this by using cel-shading on it, and it came out terrible. is there any sort of shading method i can use that will allow me to blend colors more and make them softer? i know photoshop has soft-shading methods, but i have no idea how to do that =/
also, i prefer drawing in flash to photoshop, because flash has the line-correction thing.

can anyone offer help?
oh yeah, and here's the pic. sorry it looks like she has down syndrome D:

Did you tried to adjust the "smoothing" on the brush? Because lowering it down gives you more control with the brush.

Jeinu

what if you did the line art in flash and colored it in photoshop

i'm not too sure what you're asking actually

i tried doing that, but everytime i copy+paste my line art into photoshop it comes out looking all pixelated and shitty. idk why =(

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

yeah, copy-pasting isn't going to work

you need to export it as a PNG, so when you've got your lineart down, go to FILE>EXPORT>EXPORT IMAGE... save it as a PNG, match the screen dimensions when the window pops up (select 'match screen' and include 'full document size', etc). then just uh, open it up in photoshop

and that should do it

ta-dah

i know how to do that, but the problem is that whenever i save it as a .png and open it up in photoshop, the lines that i drew are part of the background and not on a separate layer. so it's a hassle when i cel-shade because it means that all the lines are going to appear underneath the color, which is not what i want =[

ah, i think i forgot a part: try saving it with the 'colors' option as '24 bit with alpha channel' when the export PNG window pops up. that should save only the line art and not any of the background
