i was unable to remove the posts in the locked threads.

FUCK YEAH NEW XBOX DESIGN EVEN IF EVERYONE IN THE WORLD ALREADY HAS ONE

jenna is working on one of those 6 launch titles. i can't say which one, though. at least i think i can't. anyway, it's a great idea, but it is still buggy and has a long way to go before the holiday season.

Daveb0t

yes but does it involve anime

rtil

ok apparantly i can she's working on the animal one called 'kinectimals' i think. she's not working on the animals themselves but a part of the game that hasn't made it in yet

Daveb0t

I have no plans to purchase Kinect. Kinectimals looks really cute but all of the actual footage of people using Kinect looks imprecise and ridiculous.

also I don't have a large area in front of my tv to position everything.

rtil

i don't think kinect will have much appeal beyond casual gamers and younger kids

billy

i wish kinectimals was for the computer so i could play it because i like cute things

but the thing i found very strange about microsoft's marketing plan is that they're now trying to reach everyone

sports fans with the espn platform
stay at home moms with the wii-fitness-wannabe
little kids with the kinectimals
casual gamers with the awkward party games
teens/or... something... with the dance party thing (that just looks really awkward)
and then their usual crowd of fps gamers with testosterone-driven games like GoW

i wonder if the new xbox really is "whisper quiet" as advertised

rtil

what's strange about a corporation expanding its market to reach every age bracket it can? microsoft is big enough to do it and the x360 has pretty much reached its precipice as the platform for 'hardcore' gamers. they're not going to be interested in the gimmicks of the kinect, but tout it as a home entertainment system with entertainment possibilties for the kids and you've got a device that can deliver content to young kids, teenagers, young adults, college students and adults and parents

Daveb0t

u can play at my dick I made it ready rosie.jpg

[a href=\\\"http://daveb0rt.I\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\"]http://daveb0rt.I have frequent fantasies of a Dugtrio thrusting all of it's phallic bodies into my deepest cavities, sending me into a state of infinite, indescribable pleasure. If I could not have a Dugtrio, a Diglett would suffice as well..com/news/post/474336[/a]

well, yeah the strange thing is, if you're a casual gamer you probably already have a wii or know that a wii will get you more bang for your buck.

what casual gamer/mom/college student is gonna shell out 300$ for an xbox then the rumored 150$ for kinect then ???$ for content when they can get the wii for 150-200$ plus games, especially in this economy?

you're looking at it in a different way - this is what i think microsoft is hoping will happen. they will probably reduce the price of the xbox during the holiday season. but there are already around 23 million xbox 360 units sold, and from my impression, most xbox's are owned in a family played primarily by the teenage boy. that leaves anywhere from 1 to 2, 3, 4 or maybe more people in the household who don't use it. and, chances are it's probably in the living room with all the other entertainment system paraphernalia.

if you already have an xbox360, getting kinect will be cheaper than getting a wii. it will probably come bundled with something, and you will also never need to purchase controllers for it either. if the launch titles are fun and the hardware works well, it could possibly branch out.

but i don't think microsoft's core stragey here is to convince nintendo die-hards who play wii fit and mario kart on the weekends to shell out $500+ for kinect. to me it seems more like a move to expand the age bracket usage of households that already have an xbox360. and at 23 million it's a pretty lucrative, untapped market.

Jeinu

ohhh well that's making a little more sense if you put it that way

but they've got to put out some more titles if they really want to tap into that market, i think they only had demonstrated 6 titles at e3 and announced 16 (can't remember). wii has like at least 1000 i think.

we'll see how it goes

Sapphire

Looks fun, but I wouldn't buy it until they've improved greatly on that kind of technology.

16 launch titles is pretty solid. it's silly to compare that to the wii's library of games, which has been out for years. plus, the technology is a lot different. sony move is the real wii clone. what i'm more concerned about is the quality and originality of the titles. kinect has one of two possible outcomes - a genuine step forward in facial, voice and motion recognition, or an even bigger gimmick than a wiimote, which in my opinion is often times more frustrating than it is fun.

billy

It only works when you're standing up
