Hey all, this is my first real piece, using my little knowledge i made it, it's 40 frames at 20fps so it's a looping 2 sec flash lol. It's the easiest scene of the flash that i am trying to make.

It will begin: With a man in a white trenchcoat and blue scarf which covers his face walking across the screen side on from left to right. The a look from behind as he walks down a street on pavement at sunset time, going towards a city (freetown, i guess if it's allowed) then he will stop and appear to look at you (the sceen i made) and the wind is strong, but he's looking at another guy. And well..they fight while moving towards the city and eventually are fighting on the rooftops and such (with weapons not hand to hand) Then i'm not sure how to end it. It was just an idea, not sure if it's worth making with my limited knowledge.

Well, my sceen is really really *i can't stress tha word enough* basic, but please, possitive comments and ideas as to what i could use as a background and such. (he's walking down a street lined with lampposts (thats the object behind him) and it's going through a forest..

Well here goes nothing...

i dont know if rtil would have a problem with it but ripping off his series is fucking gay

rtil

not bad to start, i think a background would help a lot since the character has some interesting tones on him. his coat is pure white, then black on the inside, and his face a pretty saturated skintone. the scarf looks black as well, not sure if it's some really dark tone of blue though. anyway, i'd get rid of some of the extra lines on his coat, play with the colors on his face some . if he's got a hood on, it's darker in there. try a skintone to black gradient , black on top. the hair, looking a little strange, probably because it's also too bright as well. it's kind of hard to say because the lighting in this situation i dont' know since he's on a plain background. a very interesting problem, because his clothes are shades of gray, not colors.

I'm not ripping off his series, i was just spitballing. Why are you guys so agressive? Man..if it offends anyone i'll change it

To rtil: Yea i'm really new to all of this, i'm not a professional. I kinda of what to learn how to get better, but i won't if people put me down. The problem is that i don't know how to do most of that..so..i would do all you guys tell me to, to make it better, if i knew how to do it..as far as the colours, i can change it if need be, but the white hair and coat need to stay..any ideas aare welcome.

no, the whole thing doesnt look bad i just think you should as rtil said throw a gradient in there because its a hood

and maybe give him more detail

also a scarf doesnt do that unless its amazingly windy out in which case the clothing he's wearing would move too

scarfs usually move in a slow flowing pattern that kind of ripples as the movement trails down to the end of the scarf

Starlight

I told you, i'm really just basic, i wana see if you guys would even consider helping me out. That alone took me an hour..

How do you do gradients? I see the tool, but i don't understand how to use it.. As for the clothing i had a better idea, your right, instead of wind i'll have in move like that later when he's running, fuck the wind..

As for a setting, do you think maybe just dropping him strait into a city environment would be better? I think urban backgrounds might be easier to make. That's make alot of changes as to how the animation would run. I'm sure it'll be better though.

i dont know, do what you want. i just suggest using your own original idea

as for gradients, you need to go to the color tab and select linear or radial and choose the two/more colors you'd like to use then select the gradient tool and draw a line in the fill area

anigen is an animation god you'd better listen to him and all of his animation know how

you don't even have to draw a bg if you don't want. just avoid white backgrounds. they kill color and can sometimes mess up your composition. especially since your character has a white and black outfit.

well, you could play with just silhouettes of your characters until you come up with something you think looks cool. besides, a strong silhouette tells you you have a strong character
