Lots of Blood, March 5, 2009

Blood, blood, and more blood. A perfect read for admirers of mass murder, mayhem, misogyny, misogamy, misology, misoneism, and misanthropy.

In reply to that post -

Are you serious? It's the Bible! It talks about TRUE LIFE stories (even if you believe, or don't believe)

Not Bottled Water, October 18, 2008

Amazon has a problem. A person can send them info on why they should change product info, but they have idiots working for them who don't understand that they don't need an act of God to change obviously erroneous info. 90% of the time, they refuse to correct obvious mistakes. What a bunch of jerks.

And yes, this is the Helstar CD - Burning Star... not bottled water as the heading and item description indicate.

Shows Germany is only good for beer., March 3, 1999

Picture this. Take Depeche Mode, make them talk like mad germans and give them some Flying V's and what have you got? Does it sound good to you. Not me. If you want to satisfy your German tendencies, why don't you watch Rocky IV, or whichever one has that real German dude, Ivan, or pick up an old Metallica CD. That's where the hardcore is. Who says that? T Murder.

Sick! Sick! Sick!, July 18, 1999

I don't know what you people see in this movie, but it just made me ill! I cannot simpathise this "ultraviolent" man who has been fixed so that he cannot defend himself against the revenge he most certainly deserves! With terrible production design with naked woman/dining tables and that psychadelic apartment. Hardly any of this movie actually looks like the future. Though some may argue that that is not important to the story, I dissagree. At least 2001 looked like the future. And I just don't see the need for all of that nudity and that penis-shaped sculpture. Kubrick is no genius...he's sick!

I really wanted to like this game. I love FPS's and blowing/shooting things but this game just wasn't it. The controls are messy and unwieldy and after playing for an hour I could still barely figure out how to play it. I kept picking up guns and bats and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to equip them so that I could use it.

The game starts off so SLOOOOOOW. It's your birth, then you're 1 year old, then 10, 16, 19... at each point you have to do different things and talk to different people. I kept waiting for the game to "start" and it never did. After about 90 minutes of play I finally exited the bunker and got outside and just went "eh" and exited. This one's going back to Gamestop...

Wow... It's funny that people don't like a game because it has story and they're too stupid to figure out the simple control scheme...

Quality thread here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Catch 22 is a Catch 22, January 25, 2010

This is the worst piece of literature I have ever read. It is unduly complicated, poorly written and it seems the author works to obscure basic issues. The pattern of the plot is extrememly difficult and almost impossible to summarize.

I have a Ph.D. in Speech and Dramatic Arts, B.A. in Speech and Dramtic Arts and a MA in Communication Studies. It has taken me three weeks of intense study to figure out what I was reading and watching in the movie. I had to read several critcal essays and finally buy a professional study guide to get a grip on it.

It seems that the literary critics and teachers have invested a great deal of time writing elaborate analyses of the work. I think that people believe it to be the work of a genius because it is unintelligble and they think someting grand must be there. Many people are afraid to say that this is a bunch of crap. I cannot believe that people require high school students to read this.

The analogy I would use to describe the book is a painting where a monkey threw paint on a canvas and art critics were shown the painting not knowing that a monkey did it. They would all sit around and swear that it has meaning and and that it makes significant statements about the state of world affairs. There would be studies and books written about it because they read meaning into the work. Basically people make meaning of the book by struggling to overlay patterns of organization on a chaotic work. I can't say enough disparaging words about this book. I would never, under any circumstances, have my students read it.

If I was not required to read and analyze this book for a graduate seminar, if I was in an undergradute class I would just take an F on the assignment. I think at some point a student has to be able to say that a work is extremely offensive and refuse to read it. I would not listen to "gangster rap" or read or view Hotel Rwanda for any class. I am sorry I have been forced to read this imitation of a novel.
