And probably the only 2d animated feature film that's worth mentioning. Made by Payut Ngaokrachang. It's based from an epic-poem by Sunthorn Phu.

Unfortunately it's not available in DVD or video format. Unless you're born in the early 80s or attend film festivals, you'll probably never have the chance to watch it.

It's pretty much one of the films I wanted to watch but never got the chance to. One of the reasons that the film wasn't so well known (even in Thailand) was because my country doesn't support making cartoons and it's expensive to make compare to live-action films. If you ever have the chance to come across it (due to whatever reason) make sure you watch it.

I searched through the net and so far only came across five pictures which has something to do with this film.

was it bought by a film company or did it remain independent?

EDIT: Actually it's not independent. The film was sponsored by a local studio which already shut down many years ago. The owners already died and the film's right pretty much got passed on to their son. The original film was donated to the National Film Archive in my country and they usually show it in various international film festivals around the world.

looks cool if I ever get the chance i'll watch it.

I hear rich people in the art industry can get access to a vault or something and can watch whatever movie or something maybe it has more to do with them being rich i dont know what im on about.
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

looks really good. they should consider making it available for distribution.

Sonni

I wish they would, only if people here would appreciate 2d cartoons a bit more.

The saddest thing is that the animation industry here pretty much abandon 2d animation and skip to do only 3D animated films because it's easier to do, saves more money and appeal to the majority. The only 2-d animations I get to see in my country are mainly from Japan or Disney now a days.

Oh and by the way, here's some brief history about the guy who made Sudsakorn.

Hi Sonni... how do you know this information? I'd appreciate it if you could tell me (or join the discussion over at wikipedia).  See, me and another editor have been trying to write an entry about this film, but information about it is very hard to find.  Any help by someone who speaks Thai would be very appreciated.

It's too bad that no DVD has been released.  Is the film ever shown on television? Apparently it still has some cultural influence over in Thailand, because there seem to be comic books that are clearly inspired by the art style.  So it's not entirely forgotten.

Sonni

I found this information from my local webboard. I don't think you can use it as a reference though.

And even in Thailand there's little information about this film available to the public and only people who works in the art and animation industry actually knows about it.

I can't remember exactly when but The Adventure of Sudsakorn actually shown in Channel 7 once but that was long time ago when I was very young and it never appeared again since then. I'm sorry if I can't help much but this is as far as I know.

Crabarms

no no no, that was me....
but as your non internet father pseudo science teacher, I shall explain that the videos you
have chosen to download were not fit in the category of suitable for crabs.
In those videos a crab was minding its own business then it got slammed into the wall where
a thousands of its allies lie.
Its a myth that hermit crabs eat the crap off the ocean floor they will sometimes eat in plates if
given the chance.

Holy shit Sonni, I would be flattered if I were you. Google bots found you! Run!

Sonni you should go help them out on the talk page fghkhf, or at least PM the ESN guy on here. He seems to be working his ass off to make this one little Wikipedia page for this movie so, you should help him out with the translations since I don't think that would take too long.

Yeah I'll help him out.

EDIT: Ahhh, Wikipedia is a headache to use. I'll try to figure out how to use the format correctly before start posting.

Quote from: KingDavidWPS you are really immature, RTIL is a nice normal guy and i'm not kissing his ass either - he's earned his title, and that's my opinion. Why the fuck would you join RTIL's forum if you had a problem with him and his society? I thought you left besides, yes you have talent but that doesn't give you the right to be an arrogant prick - i don't even care if you're joking.

Ah, Youtube, what DON'T you have?

So there's a version of this film with very bad video and sound quality (and no subtitles). My first impression: some of the drawings are very good, but they mostly don't move well as animation. Also, the film would probably look better if the colours weren't so dull (this seems to have been taped from TV then transferred from videotape).

Just watched it. The animation is limited but this is the best part from the whole thing. Apparently the boy is born from an affair of a prince and a mermaid, and raised by a wise owl. In this part, he tames a dragon/horse and fights a floating city of demons, gets saved by an old dude on a cloud with a holy bell and meets a nude man with mick jagger lips who steals his horse and throws him into a pit to die.

Wow. That is crazy. The battle scene looks like it's from some demented video game.

The drawings often really are quite good.  These guys didn't understand basic animation principles, though, so it looks a lot worse in motion than it should. It's a shame that there was no follow-up (no other animation was made for decades after); they would surely have gotten better if given a chance.
