Ok so last night my pc was on standby and there was supposedly a powercut. I turn it on in the morning and it still remembers how i left it on standby ok, but it's terribly slow so i shut it down. Having turned it back on it gets to the vista loading screen and stays there untill it just restarts saying it was a boot failure. This happens several times so i try safe mode, same result. I then try booting from the vista setup cd, it's booted but it can't find the os when i try to repair and is loading at a snails pace. Anyone help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably corrupted or broken. Your best bet is to take out your hard drive, set the jumpers on back to slave, put it in another computer, get all your files off that you want to save, take the HDD back out, set it back to master, reformat, THEN you can put all your files back on your fresh install.

I just had to do that a couple of weeks ago. It's a pain in the ass.
